See what you mean bc and i definitely don't hate you lol, was over exaggerating a point but i do hate celtic.
The town i grew up in was a total mixture of proddy/catholic and everyone gets along excellent. We take the piss out each other and occassionally people take it too far but because we all lived together it was lighthearted.
We go to one place for football, they go another, we all sing our songs then when it's back home we get pissed together and it's just jokes between us.
Thing is with old firm though it's such a big part of life, your team loses for the next week you've got your mates rubbin it in so you take it seriously.
The thing i was pointing out is the strength of the rivalry if you go into glasgow on an old firm weekend you'll see what i mean, the place is buzzing with people i love it.
Go into the rangers bars you'll get chelsea fans who've come up plus all the ulster boys, with the same for celtic with loadsa buses travelling from all over ulster/republic to see them.
Your point about religion is very valid but it's politics aswell, i was prodestant when i was younger but can safely say my beliefs dont go with any church. Politically though i am a unionist, i believe in britain and have strong feelings against an independent scotland or the people of ulster being made to join ireland against the will of the majority.
I used to support scotland at football but after going to matches turned my back on them because of the fans hatred of rangers and britain. I supported porta against you's in the uefa cup final a couple years ago. Simple point i cant sing songs against a team week by week then cheer them on at another occassion. Same with scotland when i sing god save the queen and rule brittania week by week, im not gonna boo when the same songs get sang by others.

they're the retards at football that as long as they beat there rivals don't care if they get relegated, got a mate who supports man city who is the same. says they're better than man united because they beat them this year despite they're nowhere near the same points. my dad slaughtered him when saying it.
it is those people that didn't criticise england for under performing in world cup 2002 for just beating ze germans 5-1
