hey guys i need your opinion, i am taking a whole big group of newbie ravers to Godspeed Hard as nails and as the name suggests its gonna be hard stuff focusing mostly on gabba. I found that when i 1st started listenin to hardcore i wasnt a fan of gabba but it grew on me, think its wise to take them to this godspeed for their first rave or wait for something else like utopia which is generally more accepted?

it depends on their personality.

do they like like progressive rock or are they more towards the metal side? like hard beats or epic leads?

if i was taken to a gabba show in highschool when i was a metal head i would have been totally into it.

recently it had to grow on me beacause my taste in music has changed.

its really based on the person and where they are in their life =D

it doesnt do the raves in europe any harm, no happy style over there and much bigger raves than uk or aus ever get.

Where i first started raving gabber was a big part of it, and i think hearing it in a rave means you're more likely to get into it.

I used to hate jungle and dnb until i moved down south, and i think the only reason i'd not got into it before was i'd never heard it properly.

A lot of people hate cheesy songs about rainbows and angels as much as most happy heads hate to hear a real kick drum.

And if your mates dont like gabber then you officially no there too weak and need to be destroyed

Gabba has most definatley grown on me, in a big way.
When I first played Scott Brown nd Neophyte's CD frm Bonkers 15 i was like'WTF is this Shite!?'.
@first i thought it ws jst a mish mash ov hard pundin beats, but once you listen to it for a while, you see underneath that and see the uses of sound involved.
That CD showed me 3 of my, now, highly regarded trax: Never fall asleep, The Mine and Exlxaxl.

Yes gabber is an acquired taste but isn't hardcore as well? I know loads of people who love gabber but think the happier side of hardcore is tosh.

well... it all depends if you "want" them into the rave sence!!!

if "NOT!" then... take them to the gabba :P haha
(if it was me i'll stand there at the event banging my hand away with an evil laff on the go (proper shiz them up :P))

its true... when ya music taste changes the chances are gabba is a genre that will "grow" on you... but then... YOU ****ING LOVE IT :D

also... it depends on the rave sence lol... no rave is alike lol

anyways... have fun :P

I think as your hear music as a child you get use to it
reason why dutch kids would proberly have a better chance of growing up to like dutch hardcore

Depends...have they heard Gabber before?
Maybe because I'm a girl, I'd prefer my cheesecore and in the beginning I could not stand anything "hard" or intense; such as the tracks towards the end of Scott Brown's CD's. But now, I still love Happy Hardcore but Hardstyle is absolutely sik! You can just go mental with it! And I don't know about any of your opinions on DnB but they play a lot of it at the raves here and I have to say it's growing on me...
Anyways, I agree with Blue Frequency - on how it depends on their personality. If their a bit uptight, wait and take them to Utopia or something (because the vibe will probably be more 'open') but if they're just all out, out-going people who don't give a sh!t about what people think of em, take em to Godspeed and let them go madd!
And Ard2theCore, EXLXAXL (Neophyte & Evil Activities) [am listening to it right now...rrock thee pplaace!] is fuhkin awesome!

Good luck wiv em kids, FriedRice!!

I guess it's because HHC UK is new to us... We only have "Dutch / German / Begium / Italian / etc Hardcore"

Yeah... the "Hard" was lost on my too, but it's hardcore none the less, it's just not what "we" are used too
