Just been reading the forum bout the American Hardcore scene. I can't believe how bad the scene seems to be there from what people are saying. Think there really seems to be a lack of promoters willing to push hardcore over there. Hope things really improve for the ravers in the US.
We went through a similar faze in Australia back in 1999, 2000. Was terrible, the whole rave scene went trance and progressive. Alot of the hardcore djs like Daydream and Spellbound quit the genre.
Then thankfully a few community radio shows popped up like CPX and Hardcore Overload. As well as new enthusiastic promoters and djs.
The scene is back on track now with a whole new generation of ravers loving their hardcore as well as the oldskoolers getting back into it too. There's been a really big rave promoter here called Powerhouse productions that's putting on regular dedicated hardcore raves every 3 months which normally attract crowds between 4000 and 6000. Internationals from Holland and England are playing every party.
This is what America needs!!!! ...a promoter who knows how to put on a party and loves Hardcore. This would help the scene alot. America seems like a country where hardcore has so much potential to get massive. The only reason it has'nt is because it's not getting any exposure.
If hardcore got the exposure house and trance gets in the US, it would be huge with out a doubt. I've been driving in Sydney and seen Teenages with hardcore cranking out of their cars. Also saw these chicks cranking Hardcore at the Boost Juice Bar in Hornsby. This just shows what exposure does.

We're still getting through the effects that H2bH had on the scene here and the stereotypes it left behind. But there has been some massive changes in some cities, and we're starting to get roling again it seems.

Just from reading about the RAVE/IDAPA Act, I can imagine its being hard for promotors, thus acutally reducing growth in the scene.

yeah and because so many americans are into the trance/house..club stuff, i mean promoters know if they book ALL hardcore, they'll get less ppl than if they did mostly trance/house djs w/ a few hardcore acts.
Altho i am going to a party this wknd thats all hardcore (dnb, jungle, hhc, hardcore) so it'll be itnresting to see what the turn out is like

Well here is Seattle, the hardcore scene is thriving. There is at least one hardcore dj that plays at every event if not more. We have several hardcore djs here and the crowd really likes hardcore or at least respects it. Whenever possible there are out of state hardcore djs that get booked, whether they are from the US or UK. I know of several scenes around the US that have very good hardcore djs. I think we just need to expose hardcore to more people and the US scene will get bigger. We have had several producers that have made it so if more producers keep up on their productions, USA's hardcore scene will continue to grow

One reason that Hardcore isnt that big where I live is becuase they keep telling me that "the candy days are over". I am a candy raver (sober), lol, but when I go to the events, everyone is like suprised to see me in candy and they come over and talk and hang out with me, but they tell me I came into the scene too late. They have hardly any faith. We are having a massive Hardcore party though on May 5th called "Back to the Future" and they got a DJ from Ireland or Scotland (one of the places) called DJ X-Ray, sadly though, I got to work. but everyone says they hate Happy Hardcore here, they only like breaks/DNB so if you go to a Hardcore party, thats pretty much what you will hear. Psytrance is starting to get bigger down here too because of out of state promoters moving down into Atlanta and hosting events. But i am dying to hear some happy hardcore at an event, not just off cds.

Seriously, the rave scene (or lack of) is affecting my college decision.
But, I will be DJ'ing on whatever college radio station I go to.
Oh, and it'll be hardcore of course.
Here at my high school, I have a bit of a rave twice a year. Its promoted by...me and it usually has a nice turn out (for a three hundred person high school.) (about a hundred people) What's strange is their favorite part was when I played gabber.
Anyway, I'll have a video of it up soon...should be interesting.

ive said this before around here but...
It really depends on where in the US you look.
Places like Seattle, San Francisco, NY, and Southern California are more popular for hardcore and elctronic music than other places like... Arkansas.
Just last Friday we had an all hardcore rave here in LA with Oli-G called "Orange" and another one in the planning and design stages.
There is also a weekly D'n'B party going on every Wedsn. at the Vanguard off Hollywood Blvd.
So it's not the same all over the US, just got to know where to look.

we have a weekly that plays nothing but dnb here that people will sneak some 4-beat style tracks into...things like happy 2b hardcore pretty much ruined a lot of people's idea of what hardcore is, well happy hardcore...most people when you mention hardcore they think of a) punk (which has a couple fun weeklies here as well) or b) gabber

That's wicked mate.. Wish I had ravers in my year at school. Hardcore on school radio. That's great exposure. Think radio is definatly what helped hardcore get big in Sydney again and is the best way of getting hardcores name out there.

Good to hear Seattle seems to have a healthy scene too. Funny how some cities have a hardcore scene and others don't. In Australia its only Really Sydney and Perth that have decent scenes. Sydney is definatly the biggest in Australia though. Uk hardcore definatly suits the Sydney lifestyle. Fast paced and Sunny almost every day. Maybe thats why all the Melbourners are into hardstyle, cause things are slower there and that reflects with their music tastes.
