WMP 10 was pretty snappy, snappier than Winamp, thats for sure.
I use a curses based player called mplayer. no need for a ui :P

nar winaps shite... i just hate the interface, can't get used to it and i have too many tracks to keep track of...
i use itunes...
and if i've rendered a tune and wanna listen to it freshly without any EQ or enhasment... i right click the file and click "play with media player" - and it loads up RIGHT AWAY!!!
its sooo much easyer and gets the job done 
agree tho... media player is ****ing shocking (shite)
but it loads up fast and its nice to have another media player set to defult levels for listening to newly made tracks...

I've got the new WMP and I'm not impressed, the new interface totally conflicts with the way I like to have it. This is just me being a picky bastard though.
Anyway is there any way of getting iTunes without that joke of a thing called Quicktime player? Not only do I never use it, but when installed it decided to become the default player for all internet streaming media, so I uninstalled it and then iTunes stopped working.

you need Quicktime for itunes to work... i can't bleave you don't have Quicktime lol... i see it as critical as flash to have installed lol...
and the way you stop it from being your defult player is when you install it...
read what it says
you sould have a checkbox telling you if you want it to be your defult player lol... just uncheck it...
also you can change this in the setting of Quicktime

just downloaded it, v.impressed 
put bonkers 14 in, within 5 seconds all track names, artists and pictures appeared, looks smart aswell

use in winamp in classic mode or use an old version and you really start to notice the difference. I fail to beleive that some people find winamp more laggy than wmp :S. wmp crashes my pc half the time, and ive got a pretty decent rig.
