Eh... What exactly are you asking here? Are you wanting to do a licenced remix of the Alton Towers theme? If so then contacting Alton Towers would be a good place to start. I don't think they will let you use it though TBH.

You said you tried contacting happy hardcore? As in this site? They certainly wouldn't have anything to do with copyrights to the Alton Towers theme.

Isn't it actually an old piece of Classical music?

Could well be... Someone at Alton Towers will know in any case as they must of had it OK'ed for their advert. Good luck speaking to the right person there though.

^^^ Some info on the piece of music....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_the_Hall_of_the_Mountain_King

Turns out it wasn't originally made by "happy hardcore" ...we've all been conned!!! I bet they didn't even make "like a shooting star" aswell

You don't need permission to reproduce it (ie play the tune yourself) but you do need permission to use pretty much any recording of it, and also any performance of it (ie a midi file) unlessit categorically states that it is royalty free.

i always thought there was some rule along the lines of once a peice of music is over 100 years (or something) old then it becomes public domain or something like this.

i wonder WHO got paid royalties when K-complex did adaggio.. or even mr corsten on that matter.

anyone know any sources for info on this? im curious
