Does it take away from the enjoyment of the track for you or is it something you like to hear to break the cheese up?
Just wondering as I'm doing something at the mo with quite a hardstyle feeling intro and don't know if it's the right direction to take...

I like a bit of everything to be honest. I don't like the tunes sounding the same all the way through. I like twists, something im not going to expect so yes when I hear a Hard break it makes me rush lol. It's good in my opinion :)

A little bit of the unexpected can make a track sound much better in a lot of cases

Hardcore should have powerful driving kicks in my opinion, even if its a melodic track it sounds much more energetic and hardcore when it blasts right through your speakers.
And aye tunes shouldnt stick to set structure, stuff like Luna C "Victory" and loadsa the bouncy techno is what i love.
Speeding up, slowing down, hard breaks, gabber all rolled into one is rave music not pop afterall.
But sometimes i dont like hard sections if they sound out of place and like kinda half-gabber (you no what i mean like they still hold back from going all out), happens in a few uk hardcore tunes and i think it jus sounds weird.
But if done right it's immense, nothing more fun than a track that keeps changin wen your on a dancefloor

Is not really a hard break as it starts hard and then goes softer afterwards but same principle I guess... I may re introduce it after the first main rift section don't know yet haven't got that far :)
Good to see a couple of people like things broken up. I really enjoy it myself but I guess there must be people out their that don't like harder stuff full stop? Or does it not matter so much as it's just a lil bit of hard then back to the melodies?
I might post a clip of what I've done over the weekend anyway as I can't decide whether it sounds good or not lol. I think it may be a bit funny sounding but all I get from the mrs is "it's a bit ****ing heavy aint it". Maybe my mates will give me more of an answer.

Has a hard kick and a hard grainy driving bassline going through the whole track, I think it should help hold it all together. I know what you mean by the half gabber which is why I've gone for a more hardstyle(ish) feel as it's not quite as hard as full on gabber IMO... Should go together a bit better without feeling disjointed.

exactly, music should keep me guessing as to which way it's going to go. if it's too predictable chances are I won't play it =P

For me a track needs to make sense, adding a hard section or a soft section in either a soft song or a hard song respectively, in a way which doesn't make any sense, sort of "just for the sake of it", can ruin a track instantly for me.
I'm not saying that's what your doing, it's just the way it's worked out. You should write what you wan't to write.
I find alot of tracks that people post on here don't make sense, they are quite often to scatty for my liking. Now I'm not trying to tell people what to do with their own art, I'm just voicing my opinion.

A good point. I've posted some fairly scat stuff in the past but I try and keep away from doing UK and freeform hardcore like that these days as it doesn't seem to work... I have common elements binding the two sections together in said track :). I've got a few pieces in the works at the mo that are an improvement on my past stuff IMO (certainly from a technical point of view) which I should post up soon enough...

I like it! when some cheesy song goes all gabber or whatever, i think it sounds really good. Rave music should be unpredictable.
example, in that tune "Crazy love" (I think) its all cheesy, and then half way through goes into /the darker side of hardcore/ bit etc.

good luck with the track... i love hard sections that break up the softer/slower bits!
the softer bits give you time to rest your legs when shuffling!! and then you're all pumped for the hard sections and go off like an explosion

Can't fault variety, plus it prevents cheesefests. As for hard sections being too heavy for some, I'd say the music shouldn't be accessible to everyone If I wanted that, I'd listen to pop music.
Personally I like the sections with a twisted low rolling bassline and chopped up breakbeats, prior to a big build up. 'Lost Soul - Payback Time' is a good example of this.
