Other than "don't play "The Realm,"" there isn't much you can do to kill the vibe at a hardcore night! BEST OF LUCK LEELO!

good luck mate. i was nervous as hell first time i played in a club. then when i saw the mixer nearly had a heart attack looked a little complicated. as long as u have ideas of what u wanted to do it will be fine. i was buzzing like anything afterwards and i hadnt taken anything!!

Preparation is the key:

Get a rough idea of what tracks you are gonna play and make sure you know them well - this will give you a bit of confidence once you get into your mixing.

Get there a bit early and make sure you know how the mixer works.

Relax and enjoy it - let the mixing flow. Before you know it it will be over!

True - Preperation does help, and ideally some pre-selected tracks will help, but if the crowd aren't digging it then don't just continue on with the same kind of tracks, be brave and switch style.

I disagree. If you're first on, by all means plan your set - if not, you could just end up repeating a load of tunes the crowd have just heard!

The more preparation you do, the more pressure you'll put on yourself. Just get out there and go for it mate - yes, you'll be nervous to start with but after your first couple of tunes, just go with your instincts and it'll all come good.

If the crowd are happy with what you're doing, just keep going! And don't be too surprised if the dancefloor slows down a bit either - doesn't necessarily mean you're doing owt wrong!

Good luck!

At events these days a lot of tracks get repeated......Infact it's been that way ever since I can remember!

True, but they don't HAVE to be do they? Maybe if everybody is insistent on only playing upfront it'll happen, but surely there's room for something a bit different?

Last gig i played, i thought for a change i'd have in my mind what tunes i'd use.

It just so happened that i was playing the last set of the night, and one by one i could hear my tunes being played! So, i ended up playing a totally different set and it was great!

I agree with DMS just because it happens a lot doesnt mean its not annoying, a dj playing something different will always stand out a lot more in my mind as someone i'd want to hear again.

Pilled up teenagers and whatever wont mind hearin all the anthems on repeat but if you love your music it'll put you off goin again.

So much good hardcore been made over the years is no reason for any track however good to be repeated at an event
