acid never became rave here, just more house & techno =P the first 2 unlimited song I heard here was like 2 and 1/2 years after it got released

I don't know why but I never really liked smiley faces, probably due to one of my exes having them everywhere =P you shouldn't of mentioned that the smiley badge, could of seen how many people knew the emblem of acieeed

96 for me with the old scottish rave tapes then the happy stuff from england and europe.

Went off it for a while 99-01 as trance was the business and the hardcore i heard was shit.

Then started ravin in 01 at oldschool events and started takin a real interest, still like loadsa other styles but old hardcores always gonna be a big part of it

I started listening to dance music when the Pet shop boys invented it back in '85, but when 2 Unlimited started producing old skool rave music i was hooked!

When Flip n fill took that old skool sound and turned it into the marvel that was fourbeat hardcore i knew there was no other music for me!

I used to listen to dance music when I was in school about, Then came across a tape mixed by the producer, I always remember a tape i used to have Producer and scorpio back2back I think It was Dreamscape. Never liked happy hardcore then. So I used to listen to techno up untill i was about 17, Then I started to get into happy hardcore coz techno was starting to pee me off. just kept getting faster with heavy rock guitar.

My brother listened to oldskool hardcore when he was younger and I heard allot of that but I was too young to even properly appreciate music then... I must have started buying my own tape packs and CD's of Jungle, Happy hardcore, "oldskool" & Gabber around late 95 - 96ish I guess. Everyone at my school was listening to it, all sporting their Helter Skelter, Dreamscape and Technics record bags and bomber jackets... Those were the days :)

I never tried to go to any raves when I was at school, even though some of my mates used to go up to Sketer with fake ID's and get in. Started going to free parties when I was about 15, first legal hardcore rave was 2001.

Stevie - I gather you were from the UK then?

When I was a kid, my cousin would listen to the "Jock Jams" tapes, and they had songs from "2 Unlimited" and other early euro-dance tracks. I loved it, but I never knew what it was. So for years, I wonderd around looking for that style of music. Then in 7th grade, I heard Daft Punk's "One More Time". Fell in love instantly. Got the "Discovery" album, then I ventured into the sounds of DJ Irene, and some trance tracks. Then, in 8th grade, i was walking around Wal-Mart and saw those happy smiley faces looking at me off of the covers for "Happy2bHardcore Ch.4" and "Happy2bHardcore Ch.5". Bought Ch.4, then gradually collected all of the Chapters. Then I got Bonkers 3, and gradually made it my goal to get all of the Bonkers. So far, I dont have Bonkers 10, 11, or 8. And thats how it all began with for me. I love that track "Mr.Vain" by Culturebeat. Would love to hear a Hardcore mix of it.
