I, ummm, apologize for my poor choice of wording. Thanks for the lesson Sk8sSiM, guess I learn something new everyday. I'll try some of those albums that luminate posted, and go to all the sites.
Umm, according to my friend most of the stuff playing there was trance or happy hardcore or bouncy, and it was all european, specifically from the UK, but when I searched it there was a lot more music than I expected. A lot more.
I scanned the site for about two days before I posted anything, but with all the abbreviations I found myself lost as to what everyone was talking about, so I kinda gave up.
And for the person that asked I'm in NJ. But I went up to NY for the rave.
Something tells be my next few paychecks go straight to this site.

ok, first off, im Dubbing Sk8 the new king of Pigeon hole-ing
and thats not an insult, i just had to pass the crown from myself to sk8 (lol)
sad i think i might have to also crown him most probable to cause extreme confusion to anyone new. ;)
i agree with his post, though electronic is even a bit hard to class anything under these days, most "popular" music these days has some form of electronic in it - thuogh i know what your saying
ive just called the "type" of music you would class "electronic" as "dance" music
hense the reason why i have half a shelf full of old albums such as "The best Dance album in the world ever..." "Dance mania" ...."Dance Hits" ...
"on a Dance tip" compilations full of - well most of us are from the UK....
what we at now...best dance album ever part 55? i stopped collecting at 10. too much vengaboys me thinks. you wont find any "techno" on those albums.
just who started the whole "techno" generalisation thing in america anyway, is it really down to lack of understanding? i mean - even most the compilations that are released over here clearly state on them
"Trance Nation America" "Ibiza House Classics"..."Happy2bHardcore"....."This is Trance..."..."Happy Hardcore Foundation"..."ministry of sound house nation"
ebay america (.com) lists "electronic" music as "Dance/DJ" and amazon.com lists it likewise.....

word of advice, don't start an argument with a techno elitist....if they say richie hawtin/plastikman is god, don't bother telling them you like happy hardcore, & especially not trance =P
here's a good site for some background on edm, I find his comments funny but some people don't so take his explanations with a grain of salt
