When it has more in common with Trance than the ‘hardcore’ music it originally developed from!
I always thought that from the mid-90's it became Bouncy Techno rather than just being influenced by Bouncy Techno!!
What happened to the breakbeats!?!
Cheers,
Fluff

http://www.all-4-1.co.uk There are the breakbeats! Don't worry, they still exist in thriving glory! Also, there's other places where you can get wicked breakbeat tracks. But, All-4-1 is your best bet!

Spot on... The closest thing to Trance in hardcore whould be freeform! (i.e. why i love it so much )
But as for UK Hardcore... no chance!
The cloest would be raverbaby, Which could be compaired to "Epic Trance" (all the ibizia club stuff)... but evan some people on trance forums argure the toss that that shouldn't really be classed as trance either... But more "House"
Lol - Its a funny world we live in ay

^^^^^ Sure is, Sk8sim, like those people who think that Upfront Uk Hardcore is 'Happy Hardore' and i was once told that old skool sounds is 'drum and bass' which in a sense it is due the breakbeat stuff! Im sure someone out there would think gabber is 'Heavey mettle!'

Nar... from my knowleadge... dnb evoled from jungle around 1996, and jungle treed off oldskool rave (hardcore breaks) around the early 90's! While hardcore breaks carryed on being chessy and evoled into happy around the same time dnb came around else where...
So now you know what to tell them stupid arseholes lol

I know it hasn't changed overnight as I've been listening to hardcore since '95. I bought a Hardcore compilation (for some old tunes that were on it) but I listened to the new mixes and wasn't particularly impressed. All the two tracks were too clean. It had a lost alot the elements that made hardcore what it was - breakbeats & sub-base!
I know there is some good stuff out there still. I've heard some good mixes which mix up hardcore & D&B (my first love). Check out http://mixes.bowzer.net/ Cheers, Fluff

From what i have been told Happy Hardcore and Jungle split off in 1994 and then Drum and Bass split from Jungle in 1996. The term Drum and Bass had been used for some Old Skool for some time before hand though...

Hey now! I still call it Happy Hardcore. You can hear the the early trance sounds in some of Sharkey's tracks on Bonkers 1 & 2. And those are from '96 & '97.
