There are certain genres of music that i think are crap - just my opinion, not going to affect anybody.
nothing wrong with having opinions. but when they r founded on no real knowledge, i dont think ppl can go around preaching like their opinion is gospel, and trying to make anyone who goes against it look like a tool.

lol some of my friends like hardcore but they always just say "omg man mad trance or techno", and im like "err yeh...." cause i just cant be f'ed telling them its hardcore or its this or that and explaining. If i do want to tell them that its not techno or trance i just tell them to look on wiki, cause i myself cant even tell half the time what type of hardcore it is xD MEH !

No matter what genre of music you are into, there will always be people who wont like it. And once these people get it in their heads that this music is crap, having someone trying to show them how good they think it is will only distance them from it further.
Best way I found is letting someone in a sence discover the music for themselves. I either let them borrow a CD or give them a link to the radio.
And dragging their ass to a hardcore party is always good too ;)

"Do you like the prodigy?" (most people say not just "yes" but "**** YES!")
Its true. A mate of mine (Heavy Metal/Punk fan) listens to Prodigy 'Experience' but has no interest in similar but not Prodigy produced old skool!

Music that's radicaly different from the norm is often hard to become accepted, it's not like happy hardcore is played over the popular radio stations, so if someone DOES hear it for the first time, they might well think it is "cheesy" or plain crappy. I must admit I thought this when I first heard the beginnings of happy hard back on the second cd of skitzmix 15! But now listening to it again it's pretty damn good, and so is the rest of hardcore. My dad even likes the odd bit of electronic music, but draws the line at hardstyle hehe, washing machine music apparently! :D
But in the end people's hatred of electronic music in general does unfortunately come down to plain old ignorance, sad but true.

As a friend of mine once said -
"Most people think they know what they like
only because they like what they know".
(it helps the poor little dears to feel 'safe')

Indeed The point is though thats still "Hard Dance!"
So as soon as they say "I Hate Hardcore Dance" there making a prat of themselfs!
See i always get people to say "I Hate UK HardCore"
^^^^ Cuse most the time thats what the've herd and what there judging the whole genre upon!
Which is fair enough... but theres still other styles the've yet to hear, so don't judge the whole scene and more importantly don't judge ALL EDM!!! (Normally defined by the word "Techno") When they do that, it really f*cks me off!)
I've got nothing aginest people expressing there opinion on taste, thats fair game... and they have a "right" to do that!
But "judging" comes down pure aragensts!!! - and THAT, needs to be corrected! (By lovly people like me )
One more thing that should be talked about, but doesn't really matter...
Someone has a right to not like "one" song they may of herd from a 1 genre or style... but what gives them the right to say they "don't like" or sometimes even "hate" the genre its self, without atleast hearing 4-5 different tracks from it - WTF indeed! lol
^^^^ = Narrowminded - Arrogent! *cough* and dickheads!
