Looking for a decent set of headphones that i will be using for gaming. Need a set with clean, crisp sound quality and comfortable. Also noise reduction would be good as i'd like to only hear the sounds coming out of the headphones instead of environment noise however it will have very little environment noise to actually drown out.
Was recommended the sennheiser hd280/hd280pro but they're a bit expensive as cheapest i can find them at is £70. was told gaming headsets are usually shit and best to use DJ headsets as they're built with sound quality and sound reduction in mind.
I'M JUST LOOKING FOR HEADPHONES AS I DON'T REQUIRE A MICROPHONE!

I've got the Sennheisser HD202s. Fantastic headphones for the price, nice bass, good volume etc. Cost me about £20. Pretty comfortable too.

Both my brother and myself have senny gaming head sets. Ive had no problems with sound quality with mine. That said my hd-25's are better headphones.

specs:
• Superior external noise isolation • High strength neodymium magnets • 6 Nines Pure Copper voice coils and input cable (6N = 99.999% purity) • Vaporized Diamond diaphragms for outstanding high frequency resolution • 50mm driver unit • Oval ear pads with super comfort padding • Compatible with standard size (home components) headphone jacks as well as 3.5 mm mini-size personal audio jacks • 30 ohms • 2 Hz - 31 kHz response • Gold plated headphone plug with screw-type adaptor • Low resonance driver housing enclosure
my old denons are crapping out rly badly so i'm thinking of buying the new ones sometime very soon. the connection is loose or worn out on the inside so the sound gives out in either ear constantly. that being said, i've had them for a good 7 years and they served me well. some of the best sound quality that was available at the time and they were well more comfortable than what was the only alternative at the time, the sony silver MDRs.
i might also add that they helped me pwn many a n00b in cs :D
ima get these soon:

specs:
"The Denon DN-HP1000 headphones are designed to provide DJs with the ultimate monitoring tool. They utilize a dynamic, closed back design for superior isolation. Additionally, these phones employ one of the largest speaker drivers (53 mm) in their class for outstanding audio quality at high volume levels, and feature rich bass with an extended high-end frequency response (5-33,000 Hz)."
they go for ~ $160 everywhere but i've found a pair for $100 :P

I play UT not CS. The qualities wanted in headphones are alot different between the games. CS the pro's just wan't one with a good mic, half decent sound quality and not that much sound reduction so they can hear each others comms being shouting while UT (and Q4 when i finally get my new PC this week) you need great audio quality and noise reduction as it is 1v1's mainly and need to hear your opponent and have no-one shouting tactics and orders to you.

Medusa make some decent surround sound headsets.
I would also say that a decent gaming pair have both decent audio quality and a half decent mic.
I know my brother who plays in ladders for AA has always used gaming sets because of the need for coms, raved about his medusa set as he could pinpoint more accuratly where people were approaching from.
Try before you buy as you would with dj headphones as different things work for different people

Don't need a mic. I would prefer to use a desktop mic for when I actually need it which at the moment is rare. I play duels so I don't need to have comms with my team. Most imprtant thing in duels is to know where your opponent is to predict where they're coming from so I need something with great sound quality to hear the difference between the items and weapons he is picking up. Also I'd need good environment noise cancelling so i son't have shit disturbing me or ruining the sound quality.

You can mix your own drums next to the multi-track!
