When I first got into Hardcore many years ago it was the Breakbeats & Basslines that I loved (and the cheeky samples & uplifting Melodies).
As Breakbeats & Basslines have virtually disappeared from Modern Hardcore do people miss them or do they prefer the kick drums and off beat bass?
Cheers,
Fluff

I don't miss them as they are still about! All you have to do is listen to some hardcore breaks mate :p
So now we have both. Kind of puts an end to you survey I'd say heh. Sorry ;)

If someone had told me a few years back i'd have got as much into drum n bass as i have i wouldnt have believed it, nobody played it where i grew up and anything breakbeat sounded weird to me.
Now i listen to it every day, also enjoying a lot of hardcore breaks and breakbeat hardcore.
Shame the hardcore stuff doesnt sell but thats the way it is, i have some but i spend most my money on older stuff so bein honest havent supported it as much as i'd have liked to. Is choices at end of day but i always enjoy mixin up all diff styles of breakbeat.
About to sell a massive wad of tunes though so will get on the hunt once i've sorted that.
Wouldnt say i really miss the sound cos i was too young and didnt enjoy it when i was younger, been to loadsa raves like raindance and get to here loadsa music thats new to me in the oldschool arenas.
Also i dont feel it's a competition between 4/4 offbeat and breakbeat. I love old bouncy techno and gabber also jus diff music for diff moods

I like anything - but I've always been drawn towards break-based music I guess. Even if it has a kick, I always prefer the ones with a nice break to back it up.

Breaks rock.
Mertwax has what you like (cheeky samples, uplifiting melodies) or at least Audio X's song Generate (MERT004) does.
:) (btw shameless plug for Audio X) :P

LOL @ Leto
Mertwax is a good label though. It was one of my favorites even before they started releasing my tunes, which was a good incentive for me to start sending them things. There's a really great piano tune on 004 by Sparky, and there's bound to be even more good bits on 005, along with whatever rubbish of mine they stick on there.
edit: apparently I can't remember the bbcode on this site so I guess I'll get rid of my failed smilies.

I just hear a track and its me! my favourite track at the mo is Living daylights II! I don't know how many months its been out but thats the type of stuff I like in breakbeat! but then I'll here a speedcore track and I'm off in another direction! the real older stuff is original anyway so its where its about! the younger you are in hardcore the luckier you are! its all out there for you!

Living Daylights II! Isn't that a D&B track by DJ Fresh!?!
Interesting thread on the Kniteforce forum. I guess its true that its mainly the older crowd who buy breakbeat based tunes and don't really listen to modern Hardcore (that just about sums up my taste these days).
I guess I'm a little disappointed that there is little room in the Hardcore scene these days for a bit of Breakbeat!
Cheers,
Fluff
