Perhaps it's just my suburban white boy instincts to pretend I'm somehow able to represent Detroit, but I love booty bass. DJ Assault, DJ Godfather, DJ Funk, I love 'em! I can't really understand why people limit what they listen to (aside from perhaps monetary constrictions, but that's why there's internet radio).

And to the OP, hardcore hasn't really affected my life that much. It's just a genre of music. It's fun and all, but to be honest, the only piece of EDM that affected my life was Electronic Battle Weapon Number 7 by the Chemical Brothers. That song changed my life forever when I heard it and decided that whatever this weird sound was ( I had never heard any electronic music aside from the occasional eurodance tune and very organic sounding big beat), I was going to become a part of it.

I usually find buying the same material can wear thin the feelings that are brought with the music, and can just turn in to a 'well made noise'
Tho i listen to hardcore a great deal the only way it effects my life is mostly threw feelings caused by the music like Euphoric ect, Most music genres do that its jut about how you listen to the music.
Beeing a DnB artist i seem to find my self analyzing the track, picking loops out the kick and the structure, or some times i let it role and close my eyes and go with it and some times it can just be drowned out by thoughts, Deppending on the frame of mind could alter the effect of the music and you life in those couple of minutes... thats how i see it

It depends, if you use the same piece of cotton over and over again it does wear thin, but if you buy new pieces it doesn't...

Hardcore is a big part of my life, From the time i get to school from the time i leave i have my headphones on at least 70% of the time, and its always playing hardcore. I would say i spend at least 60% of my entire day with hardcore music playing. It keeps me in a good mood and all. I do buy other types of music but very rarley. I guess i like hardcore cause is unique and i its foreever changing.
