For anyone who played/play the X-Com serie (UFO: Enemy Unknown / X-Com: UFO Defence) will understand the exitement, their making another game based on that game, BUT unlike all the past halfassed attempts to ride with concept, this one will be as fateful to the original as possible, or so they say. But i'm really hoping that this time the greatest strategy game of all time will get a worthy sequal :)

Anyway UFO: Extraterrestrials will be released (hopefully) 16th April, 2007!

24. I thought the "games are for kids" thingy died ages ago :P Or do you really think all the 18+ agelimit games are made for nobody? Anyway FYI the average age of a gamer is older then you and me. Yes, i'm actually a young gamer :D

Im 27 and still game almost everyday. Brian K is older than me and still games as does MR DMS. Older gamers have more money.

Ive been bitten by the wow bug atm Although i have applied for the beta testing of the new pirate mmo thats coming out later this year.

And TMNT is out on x-box live so i might have to get that for a laugh.

Yea, know what you mean. I mean i liked Generals, played it alot, but the gameplay, addictivness and strategy were all gone from the Westwood games when EA bought it. But its still the best serie in its genre. Also i will forever hate EA for destroying and eventually cancelling Above & Beyond, the best online game i've played.

Anyway, when EA was unwilling to maintain the Westwood brand and independence, many of the emplyees left. They founded a new game studio, Petroglyph. Which is working on a similar game Universe at War: Earth Assault, which is another game i am waiting to be released :)

No I didn't really enjoy Generals as much as the older C&C I must admit.

Still... C&C 3 looks like it's shaping up rather nicely. I like the idea of the alien race, should add a much needed extra dimension to the series.

Will have to check out this UFO game. I never played any of the X-Com series.

Personally I think Age Of Empires is the best strategy series. I've been playing that in some form or another for 10 years and I'm still not bored of it.

As for being too old for games!?!?! Pffft. I don't think I know any blokes from my generation that don't still play computer games in some shape or form.

Thats the thing with C&C for me, i've played it for so many years, that whenever there comes a new one, i instantly get into it, know how everything works etc.

Recently bought Battlefield 2142, only played it once so far, its just a real pain becoming good enough these days. Plus i thought that had an offline game, but it had merely tutorials.

Yeah I know what you mean, I can't seem to keep up with all the new strategies these days. I used to buy nearly anything worth buying but I just don't have the time to get good at them all now I'm working. Only RTS games I've had recently are Age Of Empires 3 and Dawn Of War and they keep me busy enough!

Have you played Dawn Of War? Quality game well worth checking out.

I mainly stick to one player RPG's these days as I can just play through at my leisure and don't have to keep up any level of practice heh. Just don't have the time for games that I used to have :(

Havent heard of it, will search more info on it.

I hate games that are not online games, but the game is useless without multiplayer. Cause you need to be good at the game, for it to be enjoyable over net. And like you i just dont have the time to master on ever game i play.

The main idea is, Alians are attacking with UFO's, you attack them with planes of some sort (if they havent landed), shoot them down and go investigate the crash site (or the place where they landed) with a squad of soldiers. Usually with some tanks too. When you're in the battlescape, its turnbased. So all your units have certain amount of time to move, shoot etc, then you switch the turn to aliens and so on. When you come back, you have all the new high tech stuff from the aliens, which you can research and often manufacture after that.

Definitely sounds interesting, I'll grab the demo when it's about and see how it plays.

Seems very intresting, have to DL the demo when i get back home. Just one thing, is the game kind of "complete missions" or an "build an army an rule the world" type of game?

It's a build a base and an army and rule the world job. Big emphasis on aggressive play though! You have to capture and hold strategic points around the map to keep a decent flow of resources coming in so you can't just sit in your base twiddling your thumbs.

Yeah download the demo it's well worth a look.

I never used to like them but after persevering with Age Of Empires for a bit I really got into them. I think it takes a while to get your head round the way that they play but once you do you can really get sucked in.

I've not heard of Company of Heroes I'll have to take a look. Seems to be so many games I've missed over the last six or seven years!

I recommend Dawn of War :)
Whispering, you should get the package where you get all the expansions and the original for almost the same price as the newest expansion, Dark Crusade. (My bro got it from 'Tilt kauppa' in Hansa, I think)

The gameplay: depends on which expansion you play, in the original and winter assault you build your army in the map and then try to squash the enemy (Story mode). Quite much like the C&C series.

In Dark Crusade you can purchase honour guards that follow your army/leader when you attack various locations risk style (Campaign mode)

Oh and btw, C&C 3 demo released! ^^
