because i think they are. have you ever had their flyers in the mail? noticed how it's always the SAME big names but just in a different order and maybe a different description: (first EVER B2B) (first ever 93-94 for this dj) it's all a load of psycology ******** that the promoters do. it's still the same line up < why don't they just admit they can't be assed to find better and or NEW talent. just because they are big names doesn't mean to say they will pull the croud because the croud want to go to a rave with different DJs. it really ****s me off. /rant

you should send hate mail to red alert and mike slammer

i'm sure they'll be deeply moved by your concerns, and will promptly create the time machine so they can bring djs from 95 to play sets to your specifications

really

try it

Unfortunately most people don't want to see a varied line-up at raves... It's a sad state of affairs IMO. I'd love to hear a load of random DJ's doing something different at the bigger raves (providing there good of course!) but I know I'm in the minority and I just accept it. There are plenty of small nights to go to that have decent line-ups if you look for them. I guess I'm pretty lucky to live in a place with a thriving underground dance scene though.

The scene isn't dying. Get over it.

Fancy a promoter trying to glorify their event!!! If I was promoting again I'd be all like "yeah, we got some DJs and MCs. They're a bit average, but you should come coz they're gonna play the same records they always play, so it'll be great" What do you reckon? It'd be the best rave in history!!!

I agree with the Bulbs....

and, in part, with 95.

Then again, Underloop has hit the nail on the head and I agree with him,

which is why I never reply to posts like this.........

As a guy viewing the UK scene from outside, I don't think the situation (or "isolation" of the major league DJs) is that worrying.

When you look at, say, Hardcore Weekender 3, you can notice there's an "Up & Coming" category. And even though those names aren't up & coming at all (Darwin's a massive producer and has been around for some time already, same for Mozz, same for Fracus etc.), it's still a very good thing! Also notice DJ No Sweat, the HH2 comp winner. Maybe it's not the kind of openness one would wish to see, but 1) it's better than nothing 2) it's promising.

Just my 50 cent. ;)

The hardcore scene is bigger than it's ever been. Slammin is the cream of the crop, not a local night, and it's something for DJ's to work towards playing there one day, not be launched into out of nowhere. Do you think any of the slammin DJ's started off with instant hardcore stardom? Nope :)

Well Recon did loads of trance on AATW and that so it's not like it was new to him. What I meant was that no totally unsigned/unknown talent are gonna come out of nowhere and play at slammin vinyl.
I guess Squad-E just did very well very quickly ;)
