....ahhh, I see....
so it has nothing to do with loving the music then?
Nah. When you do pills it makes you produce hardcore.

Thats how I got into it - Totally off my face on pills. I took like 20 E's, snorted about 40 lines of coke, smoked a few hundred spliffs and then injected some pure MDMA "just for the hell of it" and all of a sudden I wanted to play 180bpm music with stabby synths and nasty distorted kick drums. I was into Jazz before that!
*the above is a joke for the gully bulls out there - I have never taken, nor have any desire to take any drugs except the odd half of bitter shandy down the Ol' Nag's Head*
Joking aside, Dance music wasn't created *for* the drugs. Sure, drugs were around when Disco was being born, but I would say probably less so than in the lives of Messr's Hendrix, Osbourne et al. However, when the 80's came around the music started developing more from the Techno sound in order to make the effects of LSD and Ecstasy more euphoric. Speed increased, more acidy sounds came into play, and of course lasers!
However, since then, people have started appreciating dance music as an art form in itself, rather than a tool to make the highs higher. Sure, drugs are still around, it can't be helped. Tagging a genre of music with a drug is short-sighted though. There are drugs involved in any music scene.
Hardcore, trance etc - stereotyped as pillheads
Hip-Hop/RnB - Stereotyped as drug dealing gangstas
Rock - Stereotyped as cocaine, heroine, doped up moshers too stoned to shower
Reggae / Dub - Hash
Jazz - Valium
Classical - Viagra
The problem is that druggies like music (much like anybody else). They often don't have anything else to do in their lives like a job/career, and they end up out partying enjoying their drugs. I know its not something thats probably ever going to happen, but hte sooner people stop assosciating music with drugs the better. I mean, I reckon you'll find that a larger percentage of drug users eat toast than listen to Hardcore. I hope I don't get tagged with a druggy moniker next time I'm running to catch a train with a piece of toast in the morning!!!

Yeh, just as I thought, another one of those bloody 'Toasties'!
It's people like you that give us sensible breakfast eating members of society a bad name!!!
Go on, tell us, just why do you have to drag a decent, innocent and pleasant food into the depravity of
'Running' and 'Train Catching' and that's another thing....
What about all those innocent decent people standing at railway stations patiently waiting for trains....?
....trains that don't come because depraved Toasties like you have been catching them!!!
Trains have feelings too and really hate being in captivity.
You should be ashamed of yourself!
P.S.
and a big thank you to bulby_g for the insight.
....no wonder we can't produce Hardcore.... no drugs, no Hardcore. ......................all those years of wasted effort

No problem mate. Just take 5 (E) a day and you'll soon be knocking out those hardcore anthems.

i actually know artists in hardcore that are disgusted by people who listen to the music BECAUSE of the drugs. Its actually quite offending to hear that some people would only listen to my music ****ed off their brain.
On the other hand, if you want to take drugs to heighten the experience of a rave, who am i to say thats wrong? But if you ONLY EVER listen to hardcore on pills or powders then the scene is better off without you.
I highly doubt if you were on mdma you would wanna do something that involves a lot of sitting, minimal movement, and not much stimulation whilst using a lot of concentration. Its not exactly complimentary for what your doing is it. LSD? Well that only depends how long your computer *actually* continues being a computer.
It was made for the drugs? who are you kidding?

Drugs just give you that extra adrenerline rush I find and just make the atmousphere even more entertaining.
Though I do love hardcore music without the drugs don't get me wrong.
20 pills nd 40 lines??? ...my ****in ass!! were they really that shit you had to take that many of them??
