He has DJ'd live a few times by all accounts, also don't forget his CD on Hardcore Underground.

he has a few times
but really, he's hardly a DJ

mixing a compilation doesn't require any mixing skill since most are done in sequencing software...there's been plenty of compilations mixed by producers that don't DJ

Personally, although I don't dislike Hixxy as a DJ, I don't agree with all te tracks he chooses for his mixes. Too much Raverbaby I feel.

i myself dont like his trackselection, his mixing that i have heard was slighttly sloppy, but not bad at all..

Yeah i've got to admit i think that as well, to much raver baby! But i suppose you've got to expect that since its his label (i know if i was in his position i'd be doing the same)

I'm just curious to why other don't like him, is it all due to track selection? I have mix tapes of him from long ago, well before raver baby and then some of his sets are amazing! Back in the day he was one of my fav's if not my fav!

I've got a few of his older mixes too. They're much better. He used a variety of different record labels, not just Legendary or Essential Platinum. If it was good, use it not like now where it's mostly what tracks are produced on their own label.

Not as much as he use to. On his newer mixes, Sy scratches a hell of a lot less than his older ones.

yeah, he's horrible
He's been caught DJ synching (playing a pre-mixed CD) on multiple occasions...

He has a HUGE fanbase in Toronto because of Hullaballoo (the happyhardcore raves he throws)
Those events are awesome fun but he's just terrible.

At the last one I went to he put a hard house/nrg dj on before him, turned off most of lighting for that set, got rid of the MCs. Essentially, he killed the vibe for that DJ.

Then when he went on there was MC Storm, all out lighting and HHC (which will obviously get people going at an HHC rave). He obviously did all of that to make himself look better. Lame.

He's the laughing stock of almost everyone that knows the truth about him. But he can still draw a crowd because of the h2bh CDs and stuff (speaking of which...Frolic admitted that he got that contract with Moonshine music by mailing in a fake news article about himself and his "amazing DJing" - lol.)

Such a fraud.

But you can't fault his parties, they're awesome.

Biggest gripe about Sy's scratching ain't that he does to much of it jsut that its all the same, i admit it sounds good but he over does it and by the time i am at the end of his set i am tired of hearing the same shit over and over!

Most the scratches are basic and just repeated, if your going to scratch that much it would be better to have a varied amount to do so!
