I'd rather not have scratching in a mix. I want to hear the tunes being played, not some DJ deciding to repeatedly scratch over the top. It's most annoying when there's singing taking place on the track and the DJ feels the need to add to it with his scratching.

'twas all about the tape packs I say!
there one could really get a taste of the mixing.
...sure there's the cd packs now but I love the nostalgia about the ones 10 years ago.

Best hardcore DJ of all time has to be Slipmatt. There is a reason he's called the godfather. Ive been a fan of his for many many years, and I can honestly say, he's never delivered a bad set. His mixing is the best ive heard, and you may or may not know this, he's a scratch master, different style to Sy but equally as good. So my vote for best DJ goes to Slipmatt.
For pure energy in a set, for someone who plays hardcore with the emphasis on hard has to be Brisk. Kinetics resident for me was someone who would take you that extra mile.
For entertainment value, you cant beat Mikey B. He maybe not around anymore but he will never be forgotten. Playing anthems at pace and basically rocking the place out everytime, yep, cant beat him.
But like I said with all that said, there are many good DJ's around, but Slipmatt is pure excellence. Im in no doubt he'll be back full time one day.

I know they haven't been over to the UK yet, but the Nice Guys put on a show that is hard to beat, and have a following across the greater North America, also Sunrize, Kevin Energy is a master at his craft both Producing but Spinning like a dj not a producer.
Love Slipmatt in the old days, and Paulina Taylor... that's how I got my start , MCing for Paulina taylor @ an Ice Rink in Oakland, CA.... mmm ghetto is as ghetto does
