do you have subs in your car?

smaller subs work better for 4 beat edm as they make the bass kicks punchier.

That's not entirely true... If you have decent component speakers you can have them do the punchy bit of the bass. The sub should be set to cut off anything other than the sub-bass veer a low pass filter anyway. There is quite a few different speaker combinations that can give you the same final sound, it's all about how you set your gear up IMO.

I would say, however, you are better off getting 2 decent 10"-12" subs than a 15" that doesn't have any power.

Also, there is a common misconception that larger speakers can't keep up with fast music... This is completely false, there is no logic/truth behind it. Just be sure to buy quality gear.

Also... Stear clear of 6x9s, well set up, decent quality, component speakers are the way forward!

- Meph, what speakers do you have?

Hardcore sounds quality in my car, as does any other type of music *smugness 8)*

Taking the bass almost totally away from component speakers does help with their power handling and door panel vibrations.

It seems to be completely lost on car audio fans that the bigger the sub (or for that matter the more subs) the bigger the enclosure you need. A 15" bass speaker to work ideally needs a massive enclosure so putting it in a typcial car sized box it'll probably be unable to go as deep as a 10" in the same box!

And please set them up properly so the mid & highs are balanced with the bass. There is nothing worse than body panels rattling because the mid-bass is too much!

Yes but the "punchy" part of the kick is at the high end of the bass range and above, it is not a problem to produce this frequency range with components and leave the sub to do the rest. Most people do not set their subs low pass filters low enough in cars, it should be using all its power to produce only the thick of the bass.

Agreed on the boxes! Expect to not have a boot left if you're trying to fit duel subs or a 15". I've seen so many people with unsuitably sized boxes!

Don't get me started about having the range balanced as well! Christ, some people really don't have a clue.

Lately all my hardcore listening is done in my car these days.
My 2-way Bose speakers sounds pretty damn good in my car. I am also getting a 12" Kicker & amp for my car very soon, already payed for half of it so next is just the install which me and a friend are gonna do ourselves.

And another note, everyone knows if they are gonna get a ride in my car they already know their gonna get an ear full of either hardcore or drum'n'bass... or whatever else I feel like listening to...

i used to have 6x9" Alpine speakers in my 1st (and only car) and they were perfect for all kinds of music.
But now i don't have a car, or an mp3 player... Getting to uni is horrible

It sucks in mine. I have to turn it up so loud, and still cant seem to hear the high pitches, it sounds so closed in and flat.

yea that's how mine is too

hopefully my efforts to convince the parents to buy a new car will be successful, and i can either manage to find a car with nice audio, or buy some aftermarket stuff...

I'd have to say he set it up wrong then :p. My mate has two 15" and components in his van and it sounds ****ing awesome. He's also a qualified sound engineer and knows exactly what he's doing.

Your friend either didn't have enough power for the set up, didn't have the right components, had rubbish speakers or didn't have it set up properly (filters, boxes etc).

Meph - it will sound crap then heh. It prob' sounds worse than other music on them because you're used to hearing hardcore through a decent system?

Hardcore Pumps in my car, love it over the stereo and so does everyone else at the traffic lights (I think not....)

I put together my stereo with Hardcore in mind.

Hardcore can sound really good on your stereo if you set it up right. But thats like any type of music, hardcore is no exception to the rule at all.
