alright, i've prepared myself for the onslaught of "you're a loser" type insults i'll be getting for this. i know i'm going to get them but i just thought i'd mention that they're not necessary or welcomed. we already know how cool you are, no need to prove it again and again school-yard style.
anyway, here it is. i've found myself noticing lately a lot stuff that creeps me out about HHC. pentagrams on like warped science records and other shit, lyrics like "we want your soul", "forbidden fruit", "in this life we can all be free" and on the label of that vinyl there are some nice burningly hot flames, which implies (at least to me anyway) that i'm going to NOT be free in the following life... and just other stuff that i can't remember at the moment from the same thought pool, satanic or evil kind of... suggestions/references?
i know pentagrams used to ward off evil, but in this day and age when crusty satan-worshipping goth skids get them tattooed on their arms, i think they've developed a slightly different meaning. same with the swastika but i'm getting off track here.
is anyone else a little put off or bothered by this stuff or does no one else really care/notice? the music is so happy but yeah. i find myself slightly disturbed by the darker side of all this when i read between the lines...
i dunno. i don't consider myself religious, as in church attending, but i do believe in that sort of thing; a soul, an afterlife. i don't expect many other people here do (i may be pleasantly surprised) but i dunno. that kinda stuff bothers me slightly. the music sounds so... innocent for lack of a better word, but yeah. it would seem like there are some undertones that i don't really find myself liking all that much.
what about anyone else? care? don't care? thoughts?
who's will predictabley be the first person to call me a pussy or something along those lines. someone has to take that position...

I see your point indeed, however i don't think it's as you fear it is. Like those things you pointed out really do mean nothing and it's only a superficial thing, no negative intention really goes into any of it or anything like that.
Hardcore is generally the most layed back genre i think in that sense and i don't honestly think anyone gives a shit enough to be that negative and weird :P
The things you've mention just have a sort of novelty factor and that's all really :P

Yea i agree with H2G, i dont think theres any negativity ment by any hardcore really. Have to admitt though some of the speedcore, Darkcore and terrcore images used on records and flyers and stuff freak me out!

You're neither a loser or a pussy - but you're clearly seeing things that aren't there.
Reading between the lines is one thing, imagining dark forces creating hardcore tunes to turn us all into devil worshipping zombies is rather more disturbing.
There are no undertones other than the ones your overactive mind is creating. I doubt producers even think of anything like that when they make tunes/use samples etc - only what they think sounds good and will sell.
We could sit all day and find 'references' or 'suggestions' in everything we see, hear or read but at the end of the day it's all dependent on our own ideas and beliefs etc. If i was a satanist, hardcore would be the last place i'd look for suggestions on how to sacrifice virgins!
You'll be telling me there are subliminal messages played backwards on the end of records next......

KFA41 has a subliminal message at the end that needs to be played backwards to hear.

wow really? wat does the backward message say?
as for the topic, i havent really noticed to be honest, hardcore doesnt seem to be a very religious based genre of music, to me hardcore represents fun, freedom, a chance to express yourself differently, and a tightly knit community of people who all support the same thing

don't remember the exact release info but there was one at the end of gettin' hi (mix of "bring me a higher love"). i never could quite make it out tho, but that's the NG one i think you're talking about unless there's more than one.
i do think WAY to far into things. i wasn't saying there was like subliminal messages or anything, i was just wondering if anyone else was slightly put off by it.
i still like hardcore, but yeah. for some reason, i just don't see pentagrams being an icon i associate with the genre.
