I really love the new sound, and as a DJ I can't wait to expose people who normally don't like hardcore to these songs. I know they'll love the sound for sure.
On a tangent, does anyone know where I can buy FULL versions of Dougal & Gammer new stuff (Wii Go Crazy, Discoteka, etc.)? Imodownload and the like only have "radio edits" which I think are chopped versions from the True Hardcore album. If I wanted a short version I'd chop them myself from the CD (which I bought).

I find it rather amusing that people want different music, but still want the same thing from 5 years ago.
Lets go forward by taking steps backwards!

i think ther new sound is bloody brilliant. love 'wii go crazy' and 'rippin' is pretty cool aswell. as for 'boom daka' i know that i should hate it and ppl probably think im a bit of a tosser when i listen to it, but i think its mint anyway. so wat if thers a bit of hard house or hardstyle or electro or even if theres a few abba samples thrown into there tracks the fact is theyre still hardcore tunes and imo good hardcore tunes.

How can you say their new stuff is not hardcore :p It clearly is. Borrowing sounds from other genres is standard practice in music (especially dance!). Using your logic, your track with a pop-punk vocal in it isn't hardcore ;).
I love D&G. My favourite and most respected of the "big" mainstream hardcore producers.
Oh... and I love Boom Daka and Here Comes the Drums :D.

I agree in taking the experimental approach and am glad D&G along with other less well-known artists are trying new things and taking influences from elsewhere. It's just by personal preference that I don't happen to like the newer tracks, but I like the ideas. Having said that; 'The Journey' is an awesome track.
New ideas is what hardcore always needs and diversity in production is brilliant when it happens, but it seems to go in waves where a lot of producers make the same sort of sound. A lot of producers are bringing originality to the genre and D&G are a perfect example of this.

its like dj judas said its personal preference, some people will like some of their new tracks and others wont! "boom daka" and "here come the drums" aint my cuppa tea tbh but other recent tracks of theirs have been wicked like "let it show" and "rock this" which i think are classic D&G! their obviously just trying new ideas and experimenting abit and having fun with their music so i say just let em do it and see where it takes them

How come whenever me and doogs dont use a trance sound, it suddenly means 'were copying electro?' :)

sorry gammer.
didnt mean it for you to take it personally, its just not really my style.
however, it also doesnt mean its a bad song or anything, just isnt MY style, just not my preference.

at the end of the day gammer, no matter what you do there will always be a minority of people who dont like your new tracks. you could make the best hardcore song in the world (you had a good shot at it with 'a new feeling' with cat knight) but there will always be somebody who doesnt like it.
the thing about hardcore is that there are many many forms, the old stuff like 'toytown' and 'rainbow islands' are classics, but they sound nothing like the new stuff. Its like, if someone says they like hardcore, that doesnt give much away, it could be freeform, old skool gabber etc etc. hardcore evolves all the time and the djs that dont evolve with it get left behind, its upto all the producers to create the new sounds. i hated 'boom daka' when i first heard it but i think its quite catchy now.
i reckon that dougal and gammer are doing nothing wrong, they are two of the best dj/producers in hardcore and i dont think anyone can disagree with that. every producer has to try new things and new sounds, otherwise we would all be slating them for being boring and not coming up with anything new. if you dont like a song, dont listen to it.
