the thing about hardcore is that there are many many forms, the old stuff like 'toytown' and 'rainbow islands' are classics, but they sound nothing like the new stuff. Its like, if someone says they like hardcore, that doesnt give much away, it could be freeform, old skool gabber etc etc. hardcore evolves all the time and the djs that dont evolve with it get left behind, its upto all the producers to create the new sounds. i hated 'boom daka' when i first heard it but i think its quite catchy now.

i reckon that dougal and gammer are doing nothing wrong, they are two of the best dj/producers in hardcore and i dont think anyone can disagree with that. every producer has to try new things and new sounds, otherwise we would all be slating them for being boring and not coming up with anything new. if you dont like a song, dont listen to it.

thats true.
i was giving my opinion on shit. I know how talented Gammer (and dougal) are, i wasnt questioning their talents at all, just dont like their new sound being pumped out together.

really, who cares ... it was just my opinion and i really dont care about this anymore since i've thought it through.

Like I said before
I don't like Boom Daka, I don't like Brainstorm, etc.

I don't care if it sounds like electro or not, I just don't like that sound. My girlfriend loves it though :P

However, I loved your last vocal numbers (When I close my eyes, Hold me close tonight, etc.). That stuff is wicked.

I thought it was worth posting in this topic seeing as it's on my favorite DJ.

Gammer is, to put it simply, amazing. When I found out he was doing his own stuff (Muffin Music) I practically wet my self (Not really lmfao), but seriously, I'm right into all the wierd shit he does, not a huge fan of Boom Daka ect, I'm more into This is Mind Blowing and Rockin' With the Best, I love both of those tracks alot, I hate alot of the cheesy stuff, all of it is very similar, Darren Styles in particular.

Let's go over a few things, first of all I've never really liked Dougal, really love you and party time are probably the only tracks of his I'd listen to more than once, simply because they're some of the first tracks I heard when I was getting into hardcore, secondly, I've always thought that Gammer's tracks are alot better alone (This is purely a preference, I DO know that Gammer learnt ALOT of what he knows from Dougal and that without him he'd be playing Hard dance or Hardstyle), but for some reason I've yet to find ONE person who shares the same likes in those tracks as me, everyone seems to love Styles and Hixxy, when I find them both totally boring, Hixxy's been doing the same thing for like 10 years and Styles has been pure shit (IMO) since he stopped working with Breeze (Has Breeze totally left hardcore?).

Ok so there's my view on D&G, but we're pretty much addressing all DJ/producers in this thread so I will share my view on them too, so let's go back in time to Happy Hardcore, I used to really like this stuff, I mean one of my favorite tracks of all time is Sincerly Yours by Kaos (What ever happened to him?), but why did this kind of music go extinct? Are there really NO producers who still make this kinda' stuff? I know for one Stu Allan's favorite track is Toytown, I know alot of people who love Happy Hardcore and wish it was still produced (Hard2Get is one I think), so what's that all about?

Another thing, people bitch and whine about tracks like Boom Daka and Brainstorm (I like Brainstorm!), but this is all new stuff, I mean, it's all under the name hardcore, this genre is like no other, Dance music is all amazingly similar, but in hardcore, everything's different, this is possibly the most variable type of music I know, it takes influences from trance, hardstyle, hard dance, dance, acid house, electro, gabber, lots of things! and to be very honest it should and will stay that way, because if it does we reach a MUCH wider spectrum of listeners, tracks like Sure Feels Good are released for commercial dance which is ultimately adding listeners to hardcore.

Sorry if I went off on one a bit there but that's a few things I thought were worth saying, sorry to all the DJ's I degraded, but if it wasn't for people like me the scene would be VERY different.

I'm sure alot of you can say you MUST get tired of cheesy tunes?

Also I'm sorry for my inactivity in the online scene, I no longer come on mIRC anymore because I hate Shireen (She knows why, and if you're reading this, **** You).

Just my thoughts, xx.

I saw them at westfest this year and **** me they were incredible. They were pumpin loads of their tunes off true hardcore (which is also ****in amazing) and there was so much energy it was buzzin!!
I dont see how anyone can say their new stuff is shit. All the phat bass sounds and phat rhythms. I love every tune on their true hardcore cd apart from that one with the gay singing and thats something else to like pretty much every tune on a hardcore compilation.

No you don't... take a listen to the last 5 years of D&G, you can see how their sound progressed to what it is today (liking the new sound or not)... It's new sound elements, I'm sure they don't go into the studio and think lets make a track that sounds like electro house and speed it up. Ideas meld together, sounds meld together, things progress, take a listen to starkillers - Discoteka (D&G remix), it's a top hardcore remix on a track that wasn't orginially hardcore, sounds phat IMO. You might think different, you're entitled to that, but it's certainly hardcore.

THis is so true its not even funny.I have been a fan of D&G for a bit now.I have alot fo the old EP rekkids and to be honest I think there new sound is wikkid.Like silver said if you listen to there older stuff and go one from there you can see how they have progressed through out the years.Personally I like there new sound I think not only is it a refreshment form alot of what is being put out at the time but the direction they are going is a direction I ahve been waiting for.
Gammers solo with MuffinMusic, that whole EP is wikkid.Personally I am not a big fan of vocal tracks(ie sing song type of tracks) SOme like the cheese but I actually dont.I prefer no sing song vocals , jsut straight up wikkid beats.

it aint even hardcore!
they are making hardcore die, its turning into electro and hardstyle at 170 bpm.

New ideas and sounds are not a bad thing it is what keeps things fresh and alive. To say this is well pretty much a retarded statment.Every one has there own opinions I guess. You dont like it that is fine.I personally think there going in a nice direction and well its a bit of a refreshment.

There are a few tunes I like from Dougal & Gammer.

1 Rainfall
2 Fires In The Sky
3 When I Close My Eyes (original version)

Boom Daka is boring don't like that tune either.

i love the new stuff, first time i heard it was when dougal played in sydney a few months ago. his set was at 5am and i had my arse parked up against the wall, then don't stop go came on and i ran straight up the front and danced my arse off. after an hour of dougal my legs were cramping so bad i couldn't move. a couple of my favourite new songs are don't stop go, wii go crazy and discoteka.
