What did you think of these years. Remember the end of 99 and start of 2000. There were so few new releases. Think the only labels running were Obsession, Infinity, Evolution, Blatant Beats, Next Generation, Nu nrg, Go mental, Quosh and Hectech.. (Were three times that amount in 1996) Alot of people left the hardcore scene when trance really took off and started going to clubs. Producers left also Vinylgroover, Trixxy, Ilogik, Daydream etc. I remember going to stores every few weeks and there only being one or two new releases a month.. And the record store owner trying to push all these hard house and trance records in my hands. Anyways hope it never happens again.

There was some really good music out at that time actually. If you look at what Scott Brown was doing compared to what everyone else was doing at the time, then it's really impressive stuff, still pure quality. I mean just look at Elysium etc!

Agreed, Scott Brown was far ahead of the time. Shame his sound seems a little behind the times now.

Scott Brown was genius in 99/00. He was pushing the boundaries of Hardcore like nobody else. Its kind of a shame though that since then, his style hasnt really changed. Nowdays i dig him a lot more for his gabber than his hardcore.
I feel like Hardcore might be going into another recession soon though. This year will tell. I hope it doesnt happen but i have one of those "lingering" feelings that it will. I hate those feelings.

we'll still have eachother to hold onto...
and bored bedroom artists churning out tracks/mixes :)
maybe it will even open up the spotlight for some no-name talent

I spent those years mainly picking up tracks I missed due to not djing yet. I enjoyed those years as uk djs were starting to appear more in chicago land
for the most part the only new hardcore I bought those years were from next gen/bb camp as they were imo brilliant those years, now I hardly buy any of their releases.

Yep I have to admit, although there were very few releases back then, the tracks that did come out were really good that were on Nextgen, Infinity and Evo etc..

But yeah the parties were dispointing. Hixxy was Spinning alot of Hard Trance back then and same with Slipmatt. That's what they actually played when they toured Aus round that time. Probably cause there was so few new hardcore tracks out at that time.

Yeah i remember around that time..vinylgroover ran out of steam & started ripping everything to the max. and very poorly!!
time after time & like a prayer were quite good but he started to take the complete piss with the john lennon s**t!
yeah, we know its coming, theres just not enough variety.
i mean, everything , every track (especially raverbaby) which i did like in 2005 is just sounding the same. and the fact that you can now hear it on radio 1......well......
radio isnt a bad thing...just not a commercial station ???????
things are gonna get overheard,overplayed.exhausted.kaput!

Ha Ha I remember that, yep Vinylgroover completly sold out with some of them covers at the time. Was a shame cause some of his early workings like "groove control" were so good.

thats coz all the top names are getting lazy with their production, releasing the same old shit while there are top artists begging to be signed who are original & have put 110% in their production.... & where are they on the top name cd complilations............. nowhere to be seen
makes me f*kin sick thinkin about it, it's the the top names who are responsible for the recession
there is hope..... Crush on Hardcore 3 will be here soon

I'm not really sure who should be doing what.... But yeah, it should be easier for young talented producers to be given a break into the scene. Alot of the best productions out are made from producers who've been around about five years.
I think Robbie long has done alot with the new Thin and Crispy limited editions label. He's signed some exciting new talent and I take my hat off to the guy. But yeah if people stop being creative like what seems to be happening alot at the moment, there is likely to be another huge downfall in the scene. Who knows it could be beneficial like Luna C was saying in another forum, as it would get rid of the people who are in it for the wrong reasons.

Scott Brown did some ok stuff then but is wansn't as good as his 93-96 Bouncy Techno imo! When Bouncy Techno went out the scene went downhill imo! 99-01 was the 'Trancecore/Freeform' era really, there was Gabber but it was Nu Style and everyone had to have that 'things have to move forward' attitude which ruined the scene! I started secondary school that year and that was shite so those were dark times!
