It'll be interesting to see who mixes the next Bonkers.

Sounds good.

I'm still sticking by my idea of an international Bonkers. Say 3 CD's - one UK, one USA & one Japan. Mixed by DJ's from the respective countries and featuring tracks from the respective countries.

*edit*

Make that 4 CD's - can't forget Australia

Weaver and suae please!!!!

To answer a few questions:

Please read the news topic, I've seen people cross posting this on other forums making the claim we are stating this as fact, please read the news! This is not 100% as AATW said they are considering it, meaning they might choose not to buy the brand and that is how we wrote the news piece.

Just because a company goes into Liquidation does mean the brand name is released, just the same way a bank repossesses your house or car if you don't make payments on it, the house / car is sold by the bank or liquidators. This is not to say the liquidators own the brand name one of the directors of Resist or a broker might own the naming rights at this point it is unknown right now.

If you all chip in hhc.com could buy the rights, we would have to make an offer for it and I'm sure it would cost a pretty penny, so anyone with a bucket load of cash please contact us :)

I think its a good thing, aslong as anyone steps in to continue Bonkers.
Bonkers has always been about trying new things, and thats one of the factors that has made it so successful.

A company like AATW will likely restrict how much they can experiment though. No doubt they will say it can only be put out if it has a naked girl on the front, is mixed by "top dj's" and only contains cheeser anthems.

I'll be happy to be proven wrong though.

And can't go above 170 BPM

I really don't see the problem, Hardcore (Bonkers) is already nearly entirely 'Clubland' stuff to begin with, so surely for all of you this should be a good thing since that is what you seem to like.

Actually it's an interesting concept. Roughly, how much for the rights and how much for production and distribution of B18?

I enjoy how the majority of people have no clue about the music business or the inner workings of CDs, yet feel compelled to express the idea that AATW buying the bonkers brand would be a bad thing.

Oh no, we can't have Bonkers marketed and pushed by a company who knows what they're doing, let a smaller, inexperienced label take over so they can drive the brand further underground.

Bollocks.

This is exactly what needs to be done. A big company buying a well known brand with a cult following can only improve things. This would mean that artists would get paid, the CD gets more exposure, and the general fanbase would increase. Heaven forfend that such a thing happen.

Frankly, I don't think you know how much effort and planning goes into making something like a Bonkers album happen.

Be it AATW, Ministry, Gut or someone with stupid money like EMI, Warner or SonyBMG, someone with power and influence in the music scene needs to take Bonkers and restore it to its former position of authority.

Having said all that, I think there's still gonna be another barrage of posts from net-know-it-alls and 17 year old keyboard warriors complaining about it right after this post.

*flame on*

TBH, if it's at the cost of me enjoying the series, I couldn't give a shit.

I don't care if Hardcore goes commercial (it's a good thing, obviously) but I hate the way it's changing to sound more and more like commercial dance just to push its way onto the market. There is no point in hardcore being commercial if it isn't hardcore anymore, we may as well all just go start buying/listening to/making Scouse House.

DJ Fee's - £600 (im guessing about £100+ for each DJ Mix)
Artwork prices - £350 (Paul charges £150 for the caricatures & Me company cant be far behind)
Distrubution & Advertising - ALOT!
production - ALOT MORE lol

a bonkers album for the fans, by the fan - Priceless

main thing we have to take into consideration, AATW are pay thinking about buying the rights they havent said their going to..Whilst we all hope that they wont god help us if they do because we all know what a mess they made of CLXH & i for one do not want a bonkers album with naked chicks all over it, because it would end up turning into another peice of mass comercialised crap..

KEEP HARDCORE UNDERGROUND!!

Erm, from what I remember, CLXH actually did and is continuing to do really really well. Ask any serious producer and they'd wish they had tracks on CLXH.

No one ever said about hardcore "going commerical", though amusingly I heard Save Me (original hardcore mix) on radio1 when I was over in the uk. You act like AATW are going to control every minute aspect of the CD to the point of telling the Djs, what tracks to put on the CD, which I can guarrantee is never the case. Do you know who picks the tracklist for CLXH? The djs do. Actually, as far as I know all mixed CD tracklists are done by the dj. The only thing I imagine happening should a giant company buy the Bonkers brand is more funding, a more professional polish, and better advertising.

And if you guys are serious about keeping hardcore underground and supporting it at its roots, how about actaully buying smaller compilations like HU2?

Screw the "underground", let hardcore adapt, evolve and grow. If you want truly underground music, get into some frenchcore, or some wack industrial metal. Lot of talk, not much action.

get into some frenchcore,

Already have and already am.

Saying that the record label have no influence over the sound on their CD series is the most naive thing I've ever heard. :s

Well said.

Bottom line is people should stop moaning and be greatfull that a company as big as AATW have gotten involved with Hardcore. It's almost clich'e now for people to bitch about the "commercialisation of hardcore" (been guilty of this myself in the past). How many people actually do somthing about it?

If you don't like it don't listen to it - and do us all a favour and shut up.
