Happy Hardcore has always, ever since it parted from old school rave music, been caracterised by its cliche caricaturisation of contemporary dance music. Wether its pitched 'chipmunked' diva vocals on cheesy piano riffs (like in the late 90's) or Airy, Uplifting Ballads on big beats (ever since about 2002), its all Super fast and Super intense Happy music that Is really just meant for fun and dance.
All we people have to do is sit back and just let the Happy Hardcore producers do what they do... I mean they've been going at it non-stop and with plenty quality ever since the 90's. Who is to say what they SHOULD produce? If anybody thinks things aren't going the way they want them to be, they should just get up and start writing songs they think are worth listening.
My two cents.
I with matricks. dont be such forum fannies people. hhc ruled from the beginning and still does in my opinion. i actually love how it has changed over time and respect it. how could it have stayed the same with all the electronics upgrading and what not.
freeform is the best hardcore!!......yea

well i take that hardcore was bigger in the 90,s,as u had tracks in the charts reguarly in the early 90,s,and the happy hardcore era 95-99 was massive and is known as the golden era

The point is, things, no matter how good they are, have to evolve, or else they stale and people get tired of it. Plus, Hardcore artists hitting the charts is something we're starting to see again recently.

Everyone has the opinions of which way hardcore is gonna go, Myself i see it headin more toward Electro & Minimal. For instace d&g are heading done that sorta road, The Tunnel is very minimal. Not set chord progressions or nothing just random stabs... but its fun :D If d&g do it others will follow. Personally i was hopeing hardcore would flow more towards freeform but i kinda knew deep down it wouldnt happen. The majority of ravers love their cheese, i'll even put my hand up and admit i love a good vocal anthem but it doesn't hurt to mix it up a lil.
Since hardcore is getting more and more popular with radio & even television play it is gonna get more & more commercialised IE more Cascada mixes, more Styles making tunes for 16 year old girls. A part of me think's the guys quite right, he needs to pay the bills like the rest of us. So he's being smart in that respect knowing these girls(even guys) will flood to stores to buy his albums. But the longer he does that the more i start to dislike his music.
The more i think of this it's actually depressing. I miss hardcore from 2003/4 just before it went all 'Cascada'.
Thank god for cd's like Hardcore Underground & Crush on Hardcore.

I dont see how upfront cheesy anthems are directed toward 16y/o girls more than 2003/4 cheesy stuff or real old cheesy songs like heart of gold.
Hardcore has never been heading in a single direction. Freeform Is still being produced, as well as breakbeat hardcore and good old cheesy vocal anthems.
Not all of Hardcore went 'all Cascada'. Its true, Raver Baby has been strongly influenced by Hard Dance over the last few years, but then again its only in a certain part of their compositions, and I personally have no problem with it, since I love how they are doing it. In my opinion, they make it sound so uplifting and powerful its a delight to the ears.
Even here in Montreal, Canada, where not a single raver has a frickin idea who Darren Styles is, Everybody (boy & girls) goes insane on the dancefloor to the new sounds of Raver Baby. I think the RBC is doing its thing just right.
