Very new to this style of music. Can someone please reccomend some good happy hardcore? Thanks a lot.
I'm new at identifying types of techno as well. I know how to define happy hardcore and house etc. Anyone ever hear of DJ Pulse? What type of techno is he?
Thanks

DJ Pulse, if he where actually a producer, does happy hardcore.
but I'd advice you from listening or even praising him, as he just steal the tracks he "makes", the sames goes for DJ Rankin
if this DJ Pulse guy is british that is. With a simplistic name like that, there must be more than one DJ Pulse

There used to be a DJ Pulse that made great 'Intelligent' D&B in the 90's - http://www.discogs.com/artist/DJ+Pulse

Id Check stuff out by
Bit of early 90's happy/old skool:
DJ Vibes
DJ Force & The Evolution
Krome & Mr Time
DJ Seduction
DJ Slipmatt
DJ Dougal
Check stuff by guys like this, you'll find alot of old skool mixes by them on compilations like United dance etc. there mixes will have loads of gems of the 90s early hardcore
90's Bouncy Techno:
I'd get hold of Bonkers Vol.1 & Vol.2 as the mixes by Hixxy were pretty much this form of hardcore.
Id also check out stuff like Slipmatts other project: Slippery Project which has some good bouncy techno elements 'jump around' and 'something like this'.
Dutch Happy Hardcore
Check out:
Charly lownoise & Mental Theo
DJ Paul Elstak
Party Animals
2 Brothers on the 4th floor
most of it had that euro-dance feel but it's dutch happy.. There are compilations in holland which specialise in the dutch happy hardcore like their compilations Happy Rave/Happy Hardcore, Pengo Power Hits, DJ Pauls Megamixes etc etc.
Thats just a rough guide, i would mention abit more but this what was on top of my head when i could think about recommendations for happy hardcore

that'll be "scott brown - all about you" dj pulse does exactly what dj rankin, dj cammy, dj carlee and tons of other silly bastards do. that being speedin up other peoples tracks addin some shite out of time vocals and then havin the cheeck to call them their own.

Also check out Scooter, Dune and Blumchen before probably 1998. to get a true liking to the genre, i recommend u listen to the oldest tracks if possible and kinda work your way up. or just mix your listening from old and new tracks. you can't truly appreciate a genre of music if you don't know some of its history.

here are some suggestions of good and Recent Compilations Series, the best way IMO to explore a new genre:
Bonkers (Vol. 17 came out recently)
Hardcore Heaven (its up to Vol. 4)
Clubland X-treme Hardcore (Vol. 4 came out in december 2007)
On a more personal note, I would also suggest you check out
Hardcore Euphoria http://www.discogs.com/release/788433 True Hardcore: It's A Way Of Life http://www.discogs.com/release/1098278 both top albums IMO! Good Luck, you have a lot of catching up to do ;)

Definately school yourself with some bonkers. Id also suggest to get a few of the HTID & Hardcore Heven tapepacks for that "being at a rave" feeling. For a bit of diversity, feeformation is a good compilation of feeform, and the anthems disc has some classics. Get some thunderdomes, Masters of Hardcore and 13 Jaar Terreur by neopyte for some Gabber.

Na, they're not mate.
Bouncy Techno = Dwarf, Bass Generator Records etc.
Never really any breakbeats in BT + it's harder/rougher. In general BT was a Northern UK and Dutch ting.
