I had 4 cousins that used to live within a 4 mile radius of me in Surrey. About 10-11 Years ago they moved to somerset. Its funny how their voices have changed over the years.

It's well wierd. It sounds to me like I speak the queens english, yet whenevr I hear myself on record it's always different, I definately have a northern accent.

i live in oldham but work in manchester, theres not that great a distance between them (bout 10 miles) but the accents are quite different. after workin there for a year and havin a few mancs take the piss outa me every now and again for the way i talk, my accent has changed a bit.
i know to me, my accent is normal, yet other people might find it a bit strange, but how did the scouse accent come about?

lol dont know about the scouse accent lol.
the mancs have a few variations in their accent depending what part you're from!
i lived there for 5 years!

Rhyl and Prestayn have no accents! its weird! we are surrounded by welsh speakers and are full of all accents from the midlands and the north who live here but when i go to anywhere in the country they hav'nt a clue where i live or where i'm from!

Id just stick with England.... lets face it we're not united with all the gun crime etc.

Not going anywhere near the guns chat!
Being a North Londoner born and bred (is that booing i hear?  ) I've got a bit of a cockney accent. To those of you that know me, its not too bad, and the biggest advantage of it, is that wherever i go, everyone UNDERSTANDS ME, which is less than what i can say for many northern accents that travel! (may hate me but it's true!)
When it comes to women, i'm a sucker for accents but its when i hear girls from London delibrately speaking extra cockney because they think it sounds cool or something......urgh.... makes me wanna heave, and normally does.
Funniest/most vom worthy thing i've ever heard was when i was at work in my bar on a quiet sunday and this pissed chavette girl of about 19 stumbles past the bar to go loo then just stops in her tracks turns to me and says:
"I ain't tryin'ta get 'olda you or nufin yea, but you're lyk well buff innit!"
Bless her burberry socks but bloody hell, if i never hear that accent again it'd still be too soon!

I thought cockney was east London? Maybe im completely wrong...someone clear that up for me?
A "proper" english accent is so freaking hot... well most english dialects are hot...unless its cockney... im sorry... but thats the uglies accent ive ever heard in my life. Nothing appealing in the slightest about it and it makes you sound like a ****ing tart.
ESPECAILLY that people that overdo it.
