A "proper" english accent is so freaking hot... well most english dialects are hot...unless its cockney... im sorry... but thats the uglies accent ive ever heard in my life. Nothing appealing in the slightest about it and it makes you sound like a ****ing tart.
ESPECAILLY that people that overdo it.
Mate if your on about the "proper" english accent being so freaking hot, im gonna have so slap down a big phat DISAGREE with you on that one. I think the poshy accents are annoying, like "hellow" "i lav youuuu" "my naaayme is Alexandra-charlotte-buckinghamshire Moss"
I prefer rough accents like Scouse, Geordie, Welsh, Lancs/Yorks - Not to fond of the brummie accent tho (Birmingham). Sorry!

This is summat that always fascinated me, isn't it weird how you adapt to the accent where you are living at the time? And how easily it is to just flip back to your original accent when you have someone speak to you from where you originate?
Yeah does kinda happen like if go back for a long visit then come back here people notice, cant say ever notice myself changing must be sub sonscious.

Gotta say though, if you're from outside the uk you'd probably thing that we either have a posh or cockney accent. Majority of the people actually don't, including myself.

Why is it in all the US movies any English people or meant to have a posh accent & live in either London or the country yet in UK movies you dont get that?
There is not one accent in England it differs from county or city alot. In London there is 'Jafacan' which is a Jamacian infulenced accent in areas where blacks settled and also toke on the local accent- making a new one. Watch the film Kidulthood & you will hear it as you would ain any documentary showing the crim in South East London (Saff East London, Blaad!!!) Girls from 'up North & Scottland sound sexy! I met this guy from Manchester once & said he spoke like he was on Coronation Street lol

Because they like to make sweeping generalisations about all countries, race and culture maybe?
