The current euro sound (which is also the sound of mainstream and some non-mainstream UK hardcore) relies heavily on Access Virus - a great all-around hardware synth. The older Roland JP-8000/8080 is quite popular as well.
You can get pretty much the same sound with vst romplers like reFX Nexus (most of its patches are from Virus anyway) and good analogue-modelled vst synths like V-Station, z3ta+ or Korg Legacy. Having (and knowing how to use) decent fx plugins - filtering, distortion, warming etc. - wouldn't hurt.
Remember that even if you have exactly the same tools and sounds as your fav producers have, it won't sound good enough unless you learn how to properly use what you've got... Like they had to. :)

You pretty much covered it Torpex, the most important thing is not which vst's you have but how you use them. I know Styles definitely uses Nexus, some of his recent stuff sounds like a demo showreel for the thing.

Basslines are mostly samples (sometimes layered and/or beefed up with synths).
Pads - anything goes. Virus is very capable here, so are the virtual analogue synths... Romplers like Spectrasonics Atmosphere come in handy as well.

Mate, it's a totally pointless question. It all depends on the tune. It's not a freakin assembly line, it's a CREATIVE process. ;)

Errr mate. You're basically asking "from this choice of two build-ups, which do you prefer to use in your tunes?" What has that got to do with layering and side chaining?
A build-up should be specific to the tune... Whatever goes.

The guy voluntarily answered a question for you; there's no need to mock his intelligence with comments like 'u obviusly dnt no den'!
And he's right anyway; different tracks necessitate different kinds of builds. It's all up to the producer to decide what works best for the track. If everyone making hardcore stuck religiously to a rulebook, it would become a pretty formulaic genre.

That really didn't answer my question.
You would bring a load of samples together using standard compression and effective EQ'ing, not side-chaining. Side-chaining is used to give two sounds that would usually interfere with each other (say bass and kick) their own space. That's my understanding anyway...

I answer and you follow up with:

i no side chaining is used for brinin the likes of the kick threw the bassline and sound more cleared
but on a finished product after everythin has bein done and mastered if ya done the side chaining properly it would make the tune sound more better compared to 1 wif poorly side chainin in it
there is alot of ways ya can side chain stuff
yes i no wat its main purpose is but u can use it in a lot of different wats for various samples
anywayz da weather over ere is fkin mad lol
