I've been listening to this cd, well DJ Fury & DJ Energy to be exact, and I feel that these guys paved the way for Trancecore & no-one noticed. I'm not sure if many people have heard this cd as it is almost 10 years old but if you ask me we ignored the likes of these legends and decided to create a commercial & cheesy Hardcore sound. Just wanted to know if you think hardcore has moved in the right direction even though these guy's (sharkey as well) were laying down this style which is far from what we call trancecore today.

I have the CD & i agree that it's good. If i'm not mistaken didn't Trancecore evolve into freeform?

Im thinking of making a Tranceore/ Old Skool Freeform mix but at the moment working on some others (one is in early testing stages) Fury has done alot of top stuff, got Wow whata rush 9 which is mixed by him & im sure anyone who toke the time to listen to my last 3 mixes would have heard 'All I ever wanted' which is a beast of a tune! Don't worry not putting that in the next mix though but I have got another version of it now! Had aload of vinyls I ordered come trhough & last week found a shop in town with some classics!
Back on topic I havn't got the CD but I can imagine that back in '99 the best Hardcore that was coming out was Trancecore/ Freeform which has sadly been over looked by what is known as Upfront Hardcore (the mainstream) I myself will be starting producing later this year & have big plans, just need to learn how to produce first! Think of Bouncy Techno witha few twists here & there! But for now im just working on mixing & as I said there is a new one in the works which has felt easier to mix than the last one I done!

Pretty much.
I love DJ Fury, his WoW 7 mix is great. I'd say the Fury, Helix, Teknodred, Energy, Sharky, Bunter, Ramos & Supreme did pave the way for freeform without question.

whenever i see or hear the phrase 'trancecore' i cant help but think of 2days trancy hardcore, which of course is more fitting than freeform.
why the hell is freeform known as TRANCECORE?

I find a lot of freeform, when pitched down, would fit perfectly in a hard trance mix. I guess that could be a reason why Freeform is often tagged as trancecore.
Also, modern hardcore with trance-influenced synths doesn't exactly remind me of trance, but more of modern dance music, which is also very trance-influenced.

off yer nut 99......i remember having an orgasm over my sugarpuffs when this was advertised on c4....brilliant album and yes the fury n energy cd was and still is great.
it just evolved though mate...like hardcore has....i prefer the older sound as i dont listen to much new stuff nowadays but..times change.
i can certainly see people picking up on the older sounds though...its innevitable.

That's the beauty of the old hardcore sets. You can't just skip through them like you have to these days, these old sets were designed to be listened to from start to finish. They cant make an album like that now. You have to at least skip a few shitty tracks. When I bought bonkers 1 & 2 back in the day, they were all one track too.

Really? I never knew that! I have a program where you can cut & paste tracks so I use that for my downlaoded mixes (one mix had up to 40 tracks!) so I put them on my I-pod like any other CD! One long track is annoying though & I would much rather just skip certain tracks (although a good mix you won't need to do that) Some of the latest comp series are so dull I end up skipping ,most of the mix so I don't by mainstream comps much now (except Bonkers) Clubland Extreme Hardcore & Hardcore Adreniline are the worse for skipping tracks!

Errm... I own nearly every hardcore album ever and not that many are actually 1 track.
Bonkers 2 IS a notable example, but Bonkers 1 has track markings.
The Fusion "Point to be Made" album didn't, and even back then that pissed people off.
AS for "designed to be listened through" comment..... not sure I agree. Difference was that people played each others material by and large, where-as now each compilation mix is essentially an artist mix but without the sort of care and attention lavished on them as you'd see with a "proper" artist album.
With Hardcore Underground we attempt to do it differently, and I think we do OK despite not having access to "top-tier" material. Of course, we can always do better......
