Southern Cali has a pretty good gabber / hardcore following with the H20 recordings guys, Ron D Core and his posse getting booked at a lot of events around here.

In Atlanta, we still use the old warehouses, but we do have a community center we rave in. You don't hear much Hardcore in Atlanta like it use to be, they say its too fast and wild. Who has ever heard of fast & wild music in a rave? heh

Maybe I'm ignorant to these type of things, but I never have run across any raves (besides the one listed in Brooklyn on the 18th of April) that really embrace the hardcore fast sound. There are raves all over america, but it plays really weak sounding music. Nothing that really inspires you to move around. I remember in the early 90s..it did catch on for a while and the Hot Topics where I used to live started carrying rave gear and rave cds, but that only lasted like 6 months.

most parties thrown these days are thrown from a business aspect, they book who will bring people. hardcore djs are not known for bringing in the masses as say a bad boy bill or a paul oakensuck

hahha. That's funny because I always use him as an example when talking about bad techno music.

Pretty much the only way to throw a party over here without such a high risk of getting busted is to have it as a club event, 21+ with alcohol, security guards, etc.
Heh heh heh.
I suppose a high school dance serves as a cover also. :P

So basically, there's almost no hope for American raves to ever become popular? That sucks.
I live no where near the northeast coast, so there's no way I'd ever get a chance to be on the rave scene. =/

I always like referring to oakenfold's music as electronica for the senior citizens. his s**t these days is so damn slow but then again i never really like his stuff from the beginning.

the only way that it will become popular is when ignorant people realize that raves are not drugfests. and also if hardcore wants to become big in the US, it's gotta hit the US big. start promotions and stuff. but i think it's ok the way it is now. It seems more exclusive and you are a part of somethin special and u don't feel like ur following the flock or anything like that.

I wouldn't want it to become popular anyways and I think most ravers would agree with me.
It'd become like 'commercialized' and whenever that happens, it becomes shite in a number of ways. Raves are special and for special people =]
There are things going on all the time, good raves everyweek. Most of the time, they aren't exlusively hardcore ones, but there's usually a set or 2. And now there's Candyball, mad props to Smoke, who's bringing the UK Hardcore scene to NY. Like 800 people are coming. totally excited!

Yea, I definitely agree with you there. I would absolutely LOVE to see hardcore spread a little bit more around here. I like the whole idea of it being somewhat of an "underground" scene, but I have no places to go for raves, and nobody appreciates the music.
If there were places dedicated to it, Id be the one DJing it like ASAP lol.
