I love DJing and producing, but i know a couple of people do MC as well as dj, ajay and rinsky for example, and ive always enjoyed MCing but never taken it serious, but lately i have started to write my own rhymes and would like to take it more serious, there is something about it, its very personal with the crowd. I was just looking for some tips off the MCs in here (i know there are one or two)?
Also, how does an MC go about getting himself heard, like a producer posts his tracks, a DJ posts mixes, what does an MC do? Maybe post a mix with him MCing on it?

i'd say team up with someone and do it, or if you are confident enough, record your own set and then MC over it later....? maybe?

a tip from a DJs point of view.. mc's are ruining hardcore, if mc's dont stop then hardcore will quickly become as unpopular as it was before!
my guess and im hoping that within the next 5 years mc's will stop getting booked for the sake of hardcore music.
mc's are just talentless

Completely disagree. Although I hate MC's being on compilations, I don't think raves would be the same without them. Probably get a bit boring just listening to music for 10 hours.

Stick with your DJ'ing and producing mate...
Personally, I agree with UG. I really dislike MC's and wish they weren't even at raves. I don't need some guy at the front telling me to dance and have a good time, I will anyway if the music is good.
MC's are the reason I find myself in all the other arenas for most of the night (bar DnB) when I go to a legal rave... I just can't get over how much they annoy me.
We just don't book ANY MC's at our parties... Much better vibe IMO.
Sorry if this is all a bit harsh for any MC's/MC fans out there but they just really aren't my thing!
I don't know how you could say just listening to music for 10 hours could be boring!?

I dont find MC's annoying themsevles but i REALLY think they need to leanr some self restraint.
I mean, it kinda comes accross like the MC's think the rave is about them. I dont mind MCing through most of a track.... but when theres a breakdown with singing... an MC shouldnt be trying to mc over the top of that... same through any part where there is vocals. It just pisses me off how they try to steal the spotlight like that.

10 solid hours of mc free bangin hardcore cant possably be borin.
maybe we would get to actually hear what the DJs can do as theres more to DJin than fading one tune into another.
this is an idea for a future event..
we should have a proper DJ battle, like 4 DJs on at once. they have to mix, scratch and do tricks all to their highest standard.. over a 10/12 period it will all get whittled down to one champ

I don't dislike MCs & a rave wont be the same without them but I wish they would tone it down a bit & they don't sound good on compilations imo They 'im a briliant mc & the rave is about me' ones spoil it in some ways but someone who knows when to keep quiet over the good bits is ok!

:-/ I thought you'd been to a free party before mate. Surely they didn't have MC's there? I guess it's not the same though, it's better.

i do like MCs, but the ones who never shut up do annoy me, I always thought you should never MC over lyrics and you should never MC when a DJ is mixing two tracks, because at the end of the day the people are there to hear the DJs music, if they just wanted to hear an MC they would go to an auction. But I do like how an MC gets the crowd involved, and a good rhyme makes a track sound wicked. MCing is something you only really get to hear live aswell, which makes it different from sitting at home listening to a c.d

Agree with that sometime Storm is alright he knows how to hype the crowd but his voice and singing etc are utter shit. No offence to him but it's the truth. LOL
Whizzkid, Wotsee, Enemy, Smiley = FTW!

Even as an Mc myself i have to admitt some Mc's need to STFU. My personal opinion is Live, Mc's = Great, On tape Mc's = ruin sets. ( Both does not apply to all Mc's )
Back on topic i spose the way to be heard is the internet nowadays, ive had many chances to perform live (Due to being friends with a dj) but since i do get stage fright unless im drunk iv never properly done a full set, much prefer to record stuff in a studio ( But imo hardcore tunes with Mc's on them have never been particularly good ). But if you really want to get heard i would say the internet and getting demo's to promotors is by far the best bet, theres a lad round Stoke atm and as far as i know he played a demo to a local promotion and now hes working with Druid......
*Jealous*
As for tips I wouldnt really know since never perfroming live for very long or even slightly sober. I spose i shouldnt really call myself an Mc more a lyric enthusiast haha. The only tip i would give is keep improving, asin when you write a lyric and think its good dont just stop there write more and then come back to it. I mean i use originally terrible lyrics that have been improved over the years into pretty dam fine lyrics. So you can always better yourself and improve your style so practice practice practice.
