I'm thinking about buying one before i buy an entire dj setup at once but i want to know what i need besides my basic computer (cables, extra hardware and such) and if it's worth to buy one.

seriously would not go for this myself behringer have a bad reputation ive been told to keep well away :)

hercules do a interface with a built in soundcard(monitoring and connecting turntables etc) for around a similar price and i havnt heard too much bad stuff about them :)

all you would need is a pc,speakers, headphones and thats it use it straight out of the box :) and you can connect turntables to it aswell so that could benefit you

they have a new interface out too....little more expensive but looks better/sturdier imo

check out reviews on line before you commit though........nothing worse than a piece of crap arriving in the post :P

Well thanks for that quick response but i also have one really amateuristic question: Right now i have my pc speakers but when i look at the output on the back they all seem to have the white/red outputs so i don't know if this works with my basic speakers (they have the cable you put in the green output on a pc)

Well, just to add the opposite side of the argument.

My first mixer was a cheapo Behringer 2 chan mixer - no probs with it whatsoever. Then I upgraded to a Behringer DJX700 mixer, and to date still no probs. I've never used any of their budget control surfaces though.

I have used one of their consoles though, Eurodesk or something I think, or it may be a different range. Again, quite liked it. All the stuff I have used though has been older ranges - but then they were saying the same thing back then too heh.

If you;re starting out I say go for it, it gets you started and the feel for things without too much outlay. If it breaks down, you may be thinking about upgrading anyway by that time.

Don't buy Behringer sorry, you'll make it twice as hard to DJ and you'll sound all over the place.

It can be used as a midi controller with ableton, Fl studio and so on.

Looks good to use in a live act.
