i call it UK or upfront hardcore cos it's NOT happy hardcore, they're completely different. it's not just a case of replacing breaks with a 4/4 kick. some happy hardcore tunes didn't have the breaks but were still happy hardcore. it's not just the beat that defines the genre.

i agree happy hardcore is still out there but uk/upfront hardcore is different. there is still happy hardcore produced out there, and it doesn't have to sound all cheezy w/ chipmunk vocals. i didn't have a problem w/ those chipmunk vocals but personally there is only so much u can take of them. if u r trippin on X or somethin else then of course no wonder u love them! lol j/k
goin back 2 happy hardcore, i consider hixxy's original mix of more & more 2 b happy hardcore. sure it ain't as fast or has an old skool style to it but i think it's kinda the tone of the song. supposed 2 make u feel kiddish, hence the "happy" part of hardcore.
