Hmmmm, I've seen alot of people say I've made a track but I got this 'producer' to engineer it for me. What does that mean? How does it work?
Could someone please shed some light on this please. Thanks.

A lot of big name producer that you would think do all the work on their tracks, actually have to hire in Sound Engineers to Master the track properly. Some Producers have both skills but you need to be really talented & be able to tune into as many frequencies of you track as you can.
For example, Scott Brown Produces his tracks & Engineers them meaning he hasn't damaged his ears from this type of work & can still hear almost the full range of frequencies that he should be able to at his age. Hope this helps mate

It generally means someone who doesn't have any (or much) production knowledge has gone to an engineer with ideas for a track and he has engineered it for him.
Not always the case though, sometimes someone who can producer just wants someone really skilled to help knock the track up.

Best engineers in my opinion are DNA, Eruption & Ruffage.

An engineer is a sound engineer, there is several aspects to music production. And in popular music different people are assigned to each, orchestrated by the producer. A song writer will write the music, there will be musicians to play the music, an arranger to arrange the music then, then the sound engineer records to performances and mixes down the recorded music to a single 2-track mix. There may be a separate recording and mixing engineer.
In say Hardcore, the meanings of terms 'engineer' and 'producer' or somewhat lost and a ot of people use the words to describe slightly different things.

An "engineer" is a sound engineer.
In my humble opinion, a sound engineer works with the track to make it sound as clean, and even as possible. for example, make sure there isnt and low end frequency clashes say between the kick at 70-100 hz or whatever or nothing is drowning out anything else in use of fx, volume, or frequency boost. It's really quite a detailed art and there is much more to it, so i suggest reading up about it.
Hardcore has alot of engineers these days
Ruffage
Sharkey
Hixxy
Gammer
I really favour hixxy and gammers engineering.. and mixdowns..

Lets say I have a song planned out in my Cubase and made but haven't EQ'ed/compress anything etc... can I send it to engineerer to do all of those work? And be mixed down and made good?

not really.......you cant just bung things together paste it out then send to an engineer and think your gonna get a pro quality polished track back :)

theyll mix it down and make it sound good as the production limits it...

As far as I know, DNA and Eurption dont do anything any more.
The active engineers I know of are:
Fracus, Stormtrooper, myself, Hattrixx, Mike Modulate (aka Rocket pimp), Vagabond, Inverse, Himbo, Al Storm and Darwin (CDJay, I am a johnson!!)
They're the only reputuable ones I can think of right now.

didnt himbo and rocket pimp only start a year or so ago????
personally i would only go with an engineer like hattrixx or ruffage etc who have had alot of experience behind them.
thats not saying theres anything wrong with the others you did mention mind :)

Darwin engineers too, although probably less often than those Orbit1 noted.
We keep trying to get DNA back, even if for a single track, but I wouldn't count on Eruption ( although I beleive he was behind that Tranzit "Count the Hours" track )

Eruption isn't/wasn't an engineer, all his stuff was engineered by Bradley Carter.
I use Fracus for all my stuff, he's so ****ing good.

Haven't really heard much of DNA's stuff, too bad he does DnB now, i'd love to hear a hardcore track outta him.

The reason why I said Eruption is that alot of Eruption tracks where written and produced by Carter & Brown, I know it wasn't Brown who engineered them.
And yes Orbit1, DNA is no longer in the scene but I didn't say "current"

Haven't heard much? He's one of the biggest names in older Hardcore :P
