How do you figure that though... I mainly mix on vinyl and would just be using it for the odd track that I've made and the odd digi exclusive. Only thing I'd look at soundwaves for is to see where breaks are and you can see that on a vinyl anyway.
How would I be being lazy ffs.
Your reasoning is "fail" if you ask me. ;)

@ Bulby G'zzzpoo:
This is not aimed at you, I'm just saying. Some people buy Serato because they either lazy to go out buy vinyls/too lazy to burn CD's or downloading songs from the net to the laptop and there we go...
Also I can understand you looking at soundwaves for the breakdown, but why need to look at it? This not directed to you Bulby I'm just saying there are some people who use the soundwaves and crap for other reasons, also another reason I've seen people using Serato and coming to mix on real decks with not Serato and they are absolute shite.
Another reason some clubs/raves don't allow Serato setup from what I heard.
But it all comes down to your personal preference!

No, I know your comments weren't aimed at me. I just think your reasoning for slating the program/s is not really a very good reason. It's no different to using a CDJ really and there is nothing wrong with that.
It doesn't bother me if Serato can't be used in certain clubs. Mine is for home use (putting my tracks, mp3 exclusives and promos into mixes) and at our own parties. I know how to use a CDJ so would just dump any digital files I have on CDs and take them if I was playing out at a party.
TBH I'm surprised to see myself sticking up for other formats because I love vinyl but I sometimes think people just moan about other ways to play out music without thinking of the benifits it can bring.
You're restricting yourself big time IMO.
Not having a go mate, just my 2 cents.

Wow how naive are you?
Couple of point, if you look at a regular vinyl you can tell when the break is coming so what is the difference from looking at the screen to see when the break is coming?
A-TRAK - Kanye west's dj, DMC ITF and Vestak champ
DJ AM - 1 of the biggest and most skilled dj about (was ****ing nicole richie a while back)
DAVE CLARKE - one of techno biggest
FATBOY SLIM - we alll know him
FELIX DA HOUSECAT - big name need no info
JAZZY JEFF - huge dj, fills all the venues week in week out
DJ RECTANGLE - DMC champ and probably the best mix tapes you will ever hear
DUBFIRE - half of deep dish
I am just back from USA and you'll be hard pushed to go to a club and not see serato, and where i stay in the UK if i go for a night out everytime i see SSL or the dreaded torq:P
If you think using serato is "fail" and that just cause you use serato you don't have skill you must be of your head!
Main factors for me using serato, i am in various record pools therefore i recieve most my tracks prior to them being pressed to vinyl, i can make me own edits/mash ups to play live, i can have cue points, i can load the next track by pressing to buttons allowing me to quick mix or mash up the tracks live all while using vinyl! Oh and i can take 1000's of tracks to my gigs and my external fits in my shirt pocket!
This subject really pis*es me of cause its normally people that don't dj or cant dj that jump to this conclusion about Serato.
Word of advice open your eyes past hardcore and see what the best dj's in there genre are doing! We are not cheating we are trying to produce better sets!
PS i can beat match with out wave forms, i can throw a set down with TT's and vinyl, i own 100's of vinyl

Yea, you hit it on the button. Like you said, everywhere you go, your going to see someone using Serato, Traktor, or some sort of program. Its not because the person is lazy and doesnt feel like bringing vinyl or not having a waveform to look at. Its because its a great way to step your game up if you are indeed using vinyl.
I use CD decks, so I dont really have much of a use for it, considering it doesnt let me record unless I have the Rane mixer as well. Plus, as I said, I dont really like using it because I feel that Im lookin at the screen to much to see whats going on.
Theres really no way to bash on these programs, unless of course your arguing about how one is better than the other.

I completly agree with CMC.
With serato, you ARE mixing on vinyl decks, using the Vinyl pitch and using your hands on the vinyl to adjust the position of the track.
I can see why some people might moan about people mixing on cdjs, but to moan about people having the guts to mix mp3's via a vinyl turntable... that's very naive, imo

@DJ_Axiom
if you dont use the TTM 57 mixer to record you sets use a program like audacity, total recorder etc. and just link rf cables(?) from the booth output in to the line in, i use a old latop 1.73 dual core with 1 gig ram and i can record and spin serato with no problems.

Well if you did have a read. I did say this is my OPINION. You guys can think what you want but this is how I feel. :)
But over here there only 1-2 people who uses Serato and I've talked to a mate that knows a guy who uses Serato in clubs and he says he can't mix for shite cause he always has to look at the waveforms etc...
Not saying Serato is bad, it has some good in it like just dump the song in and no need to burn cd's or buy vinyl. But seriously with all this new technology I don't think it feels like a DJ to me. I'd prefer to stick with vinyl or CDJ's instead of using some other thing.
Peace :)
