Yugoslavia? News flash there isnt a country called Yugoslavia, i'm shocked someone in europe doesnt know this.

Also Romania was 20th in the finals, from 25 countries thats not exactly good.

It would be disqualified, it cant be an already released song.

I''m not nitpicking, if Brisk was asked to participate, theres a good chance it would suck. Because A, the example you brought up isnt written by him and B its really not that easy to come up with a hit song. Also i strongly urge you to go find a little bit about Europes history.

Gonna quote some parts from that article:

quote:
But since the 21st century dawned, the event has been dominated by Eastern Europe -- from Estonia in 2001 to Latvia in 2002, Ukraine in 2004, through to Serbia in 2007.

From 8 years the winner has been from east europe 4 times. Since there are more east european countries then west, that hardly says anything. But lets break it down:

Estonia 2001 (Close neighbours: Finland, Russia, Latvia and Lithuania)
Got 10 or 12 points from: Netherlands, Iceland, Norway, Lithuania, Latvia, Ireland, Turkey, United Kingdom, Slovenia, Poland, Germany, Malta and Greece.

Latvia 2002 (Close neighbours: Russia, Estonia, Lithuania and Belarus)
Got 10 or 12 points from: Austria, Greece, Spain, Russia, Estonia, Israel, Germany and Lithuania.

Ukraine 2004 (Close neighbours: Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Belarus, Moldova, Romania and Russia)
Got 10 or 12 points from: Andorra, Belarus, Serbia & Montenegro, Estonia, Israel, Iceland, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Sweden amd Turkey.

Serbia 2007 (Close neighbours: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia, Montenegro and Romania)
Got 10 or 12 points from: Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Finland, Macedonia, Hungary, Montenegro, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden and Switzerland.

From those 4 Serbia is the only one that even remotly would suggest that it won because of political voting, but even it wouldnt have won without other countries beside its neighbours voting them.

quote:
countries such as Estonia and Latvia can always rely on their former Soviet Bloc neighbors

There are 3 baltic countries, so you cant really rely on getting the highest score from 2 countries. Its actually funny that the article pointed out those 2 that really dont have many Soviet Bloc neighbours.

Why does anyone even watch it? It's just a compilation of the worlds most awful music. YAY let's sit around the TV and see what uncreative and commercial rubbish has come out of the world this year.
It's another one of those shite programs that people just watch for the sake of watching TV, get a life.

yeh gotta agree it is a bit gay. but it's made more manly by fat, drunk blokes screaming at a tele and saying stuff like "GET IN!". but you can't really do stuff like that watching eurovision, just seems to make it even gayer strangely.

eurovision might be the gayest of the gay, but theres still a slight sense of national pride..Same with any competition that involves other countries

Sorry, but the Eurovision contest winds me up!
