Hi does anyone know if there is a way to record a mix on soundforge then save it then record over it again to add some scratching or to add bits over the top?

Depending on the capabilities of your soundcard driver, you could record your mix, then open it up in (for example) media player and use that as a monitor out. Then record a new file in soundforge of your scratching etc and do a paste special / mix. Its a bit fiddly though!
Another option is to record your mix on the left channel and the afterwards record your scratching on the right channel - then you can mix the left/right channels together to form one mono channel. Again, not ideal!
Favourite option would be to use a multi-track editing package such as Audacity, then you can record your stereo mix on one channel, your stereo scqartching on another and then bounce it all down to one lovely stereo file. badabingbadaboom!

depends if you wanna add live scratching or effects....
underloop nailed it with audacity & it's free
but if you wanna add effects or samples just copy & paste using paste overlapping
