If everybody in China jumped at once, would the Earth leave orbit?
China has over a billion people.
I'd sday on average they weigh 60.0kg each. 1billion x 60kg = 60 billion kg compared to the weight of earth which is 6000000000000000000000000kg's...
if they all jumped at once would the earth slowly be jolted and spin out of orbit?
My mates say yes. I dont think it will.

when i was over in england, on the train
i overheard these kids (probably my age) talking and one of them asked, if everyone jumped at once would there be an earthquake.
thought it was soo funny as they kept arguing about it.
&if everyone screamed/yelled at once, what would it sound like?

...it probably have some kind of child safety lock on it that he wouldnt be able to figure out...

Well, Torpex already answered it, but the answer is no. It may cause a minuscule amount of shift in the earth's orbit, but nothing noticeable.
Also, I doubt that it would cause an earthquake either. The pressure of people jumping is actually quite low, and the wave which is effectively the earthquake would quite quickly get damped out by the earth. I haven't googled or anything though, just my thoughts.

well actually... when i was in primary school we all went outside (all meaning our school and lots of others in the area) and were all told to jump lots at the same time.. and it was detected on a seizometer or whatever they are.. the reading was small but we made a difference/movement in the earth so in essence we made an earthquake!

Is it true that in some parts of China the accent is so different that people in another part find it hard to understand? Then saying that I find people who speak all chav in my own country difficult to understand as well lol

Where was the seizometer in relation to where you were jumping? Any impact on the earth will cause vibrations (same way as banging a fist on a table) but I don't think it would be that noticeable.

Close! it wasnt physically noticable anyway so we musnt have made a difference that you would class as an 'eathquake' but im sure if you got everyone in china to do piggybacks on each other then jump that it would cause an earthquake, but if they were spread out i doubt it would cause one...
