I can say for a fact I love hardcore. The first time I heard back in the uk by scooter (my first hardcore track), I was hooked. Even though scooter is obviously shit, and I am aware of much better hardcore (scott brown, sharkey, dougal, seduction, gammer, arkitech, etc etc) the point is that I was hooked. I used to listen to scott browns 10 years of hardcore mixes and be amazed at how brilliant it all was...then I went to my first rave. I was so into hardcore it became my life for a bit, and I was deep into mixing, and attempting to produce with whatever I had. Nothing profressional, I just loved hardcore and wanted to spend my time on it. These days I have grown a bit jaded towards hardcore...I mean I still love it to death, but it seems like all this vocal shit is ruining it in my opinion. I love samples, but I just wish hardcore would stop using so many god damn vocals. Love this, love that...give me a break. I want it to be happy, but not gushy or cheesy. Even the old cheese with lyrics wasn't as bad as today. Like Dr Who - Love of my life...thats SO much better than say some shit by hixxy now adays...do you guys know what I mean? I still love hardcore, as it always keeps me coming back no matter how bad it is, I'm just finding that I usually skip more and more tracks on albums until like I only like 3 or 4 tracks becayuse the rest are vocals...
Also another thing I wanted to get of my chest is, if any of you live in us or canada, don't you find that it is impossible to find someone who listens to hardcore? All my friends despise hardcore so much as it is "repetetive, boring" yadda yadda yadda, and it pisses me off. I've tried so hard to get them into it, letting them listen to a variety of different types of hardcore, happy, freeform, oldschool, they didn't take to any of it. Absolutely hated all of it. Why is this? Is it different in the uk? Is everyone bumping to hardcore down there?

Its not really that different here at all mate, ive got a few non raving mates that cant s tand it... theyd rather be going to a cheesey ass nightclub where they are at home tucked into bed by 4am lol!!
Although lately Hardcore seems to have picked up a few more followers only because the likes of Styles and Co are turning it commercial.... which is in turn attraction those 14yr old wannabe ravers that cant handle a redbull let alone a rave!!

Yeah, i'm the same as you mate. I got into hardcore when I was about 13 & have never looked back. I'm from Glasgow, Scotland aswell mate so I grew up with sum great hardcore of the times but, you are right mate. A lot of producers have sold out & became so commercial just to make some money & this is really sad. The thing is mate, hardcore is so widespread these days that there are so many styles that & you really need to know your stuff to get hold of the best stuff but this site is brilliant for pointing people in the right direction. Just start up a thread & ask everyone what they advise you get into.

I'll always stick to what I love...and let others do the same. I'll always prefer the older more 'raw' stuff.
The older scottish and intelligence stuff always touches a soft spot on me...recently, makina has been grabbin my attention too.
So, Analog Dreams, I can completely see where you are coming from...
And it's the way music goes imo. Look back to the early 90's...the older crowd hated what we listened to.

Hardcore, screaming Acid Techno, D&B etc etc is all bloody marvelous because the great unwashed public don't like it
and they leave us lot alone to enjoy something that they don't have the soul to appreciate.
I could be wrong....
P.S.
Oi oi, Charco's back. Where's he been hiding?

i also live in canada (just moved from ontario) and i've never ran into someone in "real life" who appreciates this music. i also have to agree that most new stuff is poop.
some friends i've brought to parties kinda like it, but i've never met a stranger who does.
they just don't understand...
where do you live anyway?

Absolutely spot on. I love the fact that you don't hear Hardcore blasting out of every young persons car or bedroom window etc etc. Years ago round my area there was a small group of us that loved Hardcore. Mainly people my age or older. Most of my other friends had never heard Hardcore before & instantly fell in love with it because it was something completely different to what they were used too. Now i can talk to anybody about it & they always say "Oh yeah remember when you got me into Hardcore" or they will always come to me if they are after a certain choon they don't know or when a certain compilation is coming out. It's all good.

also. the sexier you are, the more willing people are to listen to your music (and pretend to like it).
:) Just kidding.
BUT SERIOUSLY.

wouldn't have included the D&B in your statement! radio 1 are addicted to it! it has its own shows and other dance dj's have to put at least one track on their shows! (its southern based music) hardcore music has always been hated by the masses! who cares though? I like it that what counts!

I feel your pain. The hardcore today sounds too much like trance. And I mean, trance, not actual trancecore (which is good). I still love the core though.

this thread is gold.
its gold because it PERFECTLY reflects the spirit on these boards.
imo, Analog Dreams just repeated what almost everybody here is ranting about on every other thread. Its getting old guys! I think its time to move on to another music genre if nowadays hardcore isnt your thing. Its not that sad when you think about it, you still have your old classics to listen to and remember how music was wonderful back then.

But the reason I won't stop listening to it is because I love it so much and I just don't want to accept that the music is going downhill. Also, alot of the tracks I still like VERY much. For instance, on hardcore nation next generation (which I was not very impressed with) the track by jakazid - give love a chance...THAT IS A CLASS TRACK , but it is one of the few. The rest I end up skipping...
Hardcore is progressing, and theres more styles than ever, a little bit for everyone I guess...the cheese, freeform, happy, gabber...I don't even mind cheese but like sometimes I just can't help but cringe.
by the way vitalism, i live in toronto.

Nope. I love vocals, its the main reason i like hardcore. Throw in some love, unicorns, rainbows and i'm happy ;) My friend always makes this flying movement when i put on happy hardcore, hes way of mocking HHC, but cant take it as taking the piss when its the reason why i like it. Not sure what you mean by "lyrics today" but i think the lyrics used to be a lot better. These days the only good vocals seem to be made in Eurodance.

If you liked this track, I suggest you check out The Saints - Something Good, on True Hardcore 2, Dougal & Gammer CD.
