how many of these lady djs are mainstream ?(uk only i mean) can only really remember dj rap that was around playin jungle years ago (sorry if she still does, but i cant stand dnb nowso havnt listened to it for ages) only want to know how many hardcore female djs in the uk are up on the big event line ups week in week out.

Theres alot of female djs out there
next time ya out grab core mag theres a double page in there called Sc@rs Powder Room. Its basically its a regular feature in there promoting the females of the core from djs, singers, ms, promoters, dancers and everything inbetween. So far the djs focused on have been Flame (freeform) , Miss Speical K (hardcore) and Frisky (hard dance). there is some talented girls out there!

i bet there is a lot of talented ladies out there , just cant understand why big events like h.t.i.d and uproar just to name a few never use them on regular line ups .the ladies have taken the hard house scene by storm over the years! about time they made it big in hardcore.

I think anyone that isnt into typical/commercial hardcore i.e raverbaby etc will of heard of alot of female dj's as we look to other places for new sounds and styles. Just because HTID and raverbaby want to ignore great female talent doesent mean that it isnt out there.

clo is doing a great job out there on the decks playing at htid, uproar and some festivals as well as cally cage.
Though parties like raindance in london supports alot of female djs within the 6 rooms from hardcore, oldskool , dnb, hardhouse, electro, breaks etc! a must check out party for sure!!!!

MARUSHA was a popular dj years back,i think she is still going but has changed styles now,
im sure dj rap was a chick & popular jungle/D&B dj...
but it is true the percentage compared to guys must be well low..
i tried to teach an ex girlfriend back in 95 to do it but she wasnt interested,
to busy dancing and enjoying the tunes to concentrate..
she would have rather done vocals..
i think most women would rather do vocals than dj given an option..
maybe its a bit of a competitive thing with guys,they watch and listen
to other dj`s"mostly guys" and think well if he can do it so can i
and better...LOL

i bet if more girls applied themselves to being the best dj that they can rather than having to fit a mold of being the best girl dj that they can, it would be a different world all together.
i don't know about how it is in the uk but it doesn't matter what you look like, what color your skin is, what gender you are, if you are a talented hardcore dj then you are a talented hardcore dj.
i think it's gay that people even think it matters what gender you are.
asking why there aren't more girl djs is like asking why there aren't more homosexual djs. it simply doesn't matter what role they play in society if they are playing music.
music doesn't care who you are, so why should we?
also, if you find that there aren't enough girls playing massive events, then maybe the politics of the events is what's keeping them from it.
or, you may have to try this one on for size....
there are more guys djing hardcore and becoming good enough to play these events than girls.
but to me, it just doesn't matter.

Hellooo!
Im a female Hardcore dj! Prob not your average female dj either! lol
Im 39 years old and im a housewife with 2 kids! Ive been mixing for about a year and a half now after trying to get my daughter in to it buy buying her some decks! She wasnt interested in them so I thought I could do with a challenge and decided to learn myself!
Im now totally hooked and do 2 radio shows a week on narcotic radio!
It is sad that people have a view on what people look like as to weather they are good or not which is why I have never posted photos of myself anywhere cos I think its irrelivent, I want people to tune in for the music and nothing else! (plus I dont think anyone would want to see a pic of me at the decks in my baggy old pj's!! lol)

im all for female djs if they've got the tallent why not end of the day it's what they can do on the decks not what they look like but if there sexy aswell that's a bonus lol

HARDCORE IS A BALANCE BETWEEN MASCULINE AND FEMININE, THE BASE BEING MASCULINE, THE SYNTHS FEMININ. BUT NOTABLY A FEMALE VOCALIST MAKES REAL SEXY BANGING HARDCORE WORTH WHILE.
