A year that is sometimes over looked beacuse it is seen as not being as good as the year before! Some say the scene went downhill this year onwards & the Dutch Happy Hardcore scene dies as did Scotlan'd Bouncy Techno
Still how could 1996 be so good & 1997 so bad? There must be some good stuff from 1997? Of course there is! Let's give 1997 a mention it deserves, after all it wasn't as bad as 1998
Favorites of mine (in no order)
Bang! Shooting Star (this is from 97 although most people think 1998)
Monty & D'Skys- You Had It All (samples Bass Selective- Blow Out Part 2)
Turbolenza- I am the creator (two versions, one 'Old style' & another 'Future' mix, both good)
Drugzone- Cocaine (seems to sample T99- Anasthasia from 1991)
Lenny D- Forgotton Moments
DJ Seduction- Hardcore Heaven 97 (even better than the original, and faster! )
Ku-Base- Hardcore Pumping (Ram Version) an Italian beast of a Gabber tune!
DJ Yves & The Twins- bloodbrain (DJ Yves mix)

not being funny but those are mix cds not records.
And nearly all the stuff on Bonekrs 2 is from 1996 as is alot of Bonkers 3! Saying that they came out that year so it can count as being part of the '97 sound!

Another lonely day - Eruption
Hallelujah - Scott Brown & Dj Pleasure
Time after time - Vinylgroover
Tranquility - Dj Dougal
Heavens gate - Scott Brown
Shelter Shelter - Vinylgroover
Get Up - Kaos and Energy
Come and follow me - Dj Stompy

Certainly was year of the cheese. Not sure why people say Bouncy Techno died as IMHO Happy Hardcore sounded more like Bouncy Techno than Breakbeat Hardcore.
While I liked (and still like to a degree) the Happy Hardcore through '96 to '98 I remember wishing it'd return to the sound of '93-'94.

There was Bouncy Techno in 1997 but alot of it was either turning into Gabber or Happy Hardcore from what I hear. The last Rez was in 1997 & Bass Generator Records stopped that year & with the Dutch moving on towards a harder & more agressive 'Nu Style' Gabber this left less Bouncy stuff from there. Saying that I have found a new tune I like from 1997: DJ Yves & The Twins- bloodbrain (DJ Yves mix) At first I thought it was Dutch & from 1995 but DJ Yves is from Belgium. A real good track with hard kicks & a good rift!
