alrighty people...another pointless - but quite interesting topic...

the pronunciation of the letter "H"
this is a bit of a UK topic...

I was taught to say Aitch (as one pronounces "S" "ess" insted of "Ssss" like a snake and "H" "aitch" not "huh" like harry)

discuss.

and to make it interesting - anyone who says "aitch" is better than anyone who says "haitch"

hah! - further discuss!

unless it's certain words like happy and stuff like that because the the "ha" sound is there, so your saying happy instead of appy.

"Aitch".

anything else will have those that speak English properly knowing that you're not

from the 'Top Drawer'. It's one of the more obvious clues and has nothing to do with snobbery.

You have been warned.

it's aitch, because the letter h is derived from the lack of a sound... it's the breath before you say another syllable, which morphed into a letter unto itself

edit: think "eight" but instead of a "t" sound at the end, a "ch"

if by "retarded" you mean "correctly adhering to common convention", then I would agree with you...
