Another year begins, another year becomes old skool! The other week I saw someone comment on A1 feat Asa- Makin me wanna dance on youtube & said they liked 'old skool'
So that means all the artists who do the same thing now as 4 years ago (Trancy, vocal stuff) well, your living in the past! I hope this year sees the end of Raverbaby & I am starting to produce my own track now! My track is also Old Skool, as after all, Old Skool is the new Nu Skool! (yes I know Makin me wanna dance is from 04 but there is a remix on Hardcore Heaven)
Happy New Year!

Haha, riiiight :P
I don't think Vocal stuff started happening 4 years ago, so I'm sure you can still consider it NewOldSchool ^^
Happy New Year everyone :)

Oh gosh, what I would give for Raverbaby to die. But I still think that "old school" hardcore is the stuff from 1994 and earlier. Just because styles change doesn't automatically make the previous style old school. Well if you ask me anyway...

I consider 1988-1999 as Old Skool, 1999-2003 something between both ( MiddleSkool ? lol ) and 2003-2009 as NuSkool. I said 1988 ( not 1998 ), because I just found a Happy Hardcore record from 1988.. It's called "Dux Dux - This is a sound", it's a Hardcore Remix, and yeah it's from 1988. I've got it on vinyl. The cover is the typical HHC smilie...

I supose stuff from 88 was the prediser to mid 90s Happy Hardcore. I find alot of stuff from around 91-93 to be Happy sounding but closer to the early rave stuff, just more breakbeat but with uplifting vocals, pianos & 'fairground' effects. Alot of late 80s House was big in the early raves along side of Techno & the more 'darker' stuff.
I class 2000-2004 as Middle School but the changes this decade are nothing to what happened in the 90s. Listen to stuff from 1993-1999 compared to 2003-2009 & you will notice the 90s was a fast paced era for rave music!

Yeah well it's a house tune, but there's also a Hardcore Remix on it. I've listened to it and it's like 140 BPM I think. And a bit darker.
Wilky : Yeh, that's me ;-) .

Hardcore was sort of dead in that time frame.
I kind of think of it as a transition period.

That Makin Me Wanna Dance I agree not an old skool tune but it was good back in the time.

I still like the term "Millennial Old Skool" but I dont think the music has evolved enough since 2000 to consider it "old". I think the "happy" cheese element has come back, which is good and I hope 2009 is full of cheesy goodness, but other than that, nothing much has changed.
