soooo...everybody's got them, some people say them..which ones irk you?
mine are
"You only live once"
...how do you know? you dont! nobody knows.
and
"what doesnt kill you, only makes you stronger"
well lets see, being vegetablised, alzheimer's disease,becoming severely disabled..
a whole host of illness's and diseases that wont kill you, but will leave you in a less-than-strong state in mind and body..
any others that you guys think are stupid?

It's not. It's the most time-consuming thing any of us will ever do. I know what people mean (make the most of the time you've got), but still.
Also... "literally" and "basically". Not so much the words themselves, but when Jeremy-Kyle-muppets use them in every sentence. "I literally just went to the shop, like and basically i'm a twat who doesn't even know what these words mean or know the context in which to use them..... basically".
Sorry, in a bit of a ranting mood lol.

At this moment in time - I personally - am not liking (followed by the Australian verbal question mark)
the current fashion for (mainly English girls) to mispronounce words in an attempt to either disguise their regional accent
or appear higher class than they really are.
For example:-
Road = Raid
House = Haise
Do you? = Dee Yee
University = Yeenyversity
and the biggest most irritating example is Alice What'shername in BBC2's series 'Coast'
or in her case, 'Caiste'
....FFS!

Fantastic, when pronounced as Fan Tastic. It's one bloody word.
I also get irritated when people say "I won him" when they mean beat and "Can you borrow me..." when they mean lend.

when people use "basically" or "i guess" repeatedly in every sentence.
i'm smart enough to handle the non-basic version of whatever story you're about to tell me, and when someone asks a question like "how many courses are you taking?" and then they get the reply, "5 i guess"... well, don't guess and be sure, you either are or you aren't. it's not hard. also, when people say things like "i could care less", because the expression is actually "couldn't care less"
also when people misuse words like unthaw, or irregardless.
