Heck I could use line-out for mic in, or mic in as a line out, atleast on this stationary PC
stationary pc's have a lot more of the in-puts and out-puts than a laptop, my stationary has like 8 different in-puts and stuff like that in the back and 2 in the front(mic and headset though). my laptop only has a mic and headset out-put..
i was not talking about how many. I was refering to that the input and output has more than one task. They work both IN and OUT (on the same jack)

It's cheap DJ equipment, every Numark mixer I have used the knobs or sliders fly off when you use them heavily... or they are already missing when I got there... They are build for high school / mobile / party DJ's or something, any sort of real DJing on them breaks them...
If you have had a difference experience then all good, just what I have run into... numark are just as bad a behringer mixers... they are also cheap crap with a fancy name.
sorry for being a financially defficient college student

Hey just what I think, if you have numark and love em then power to you, I just have had bad experiences with them... perhaps their latest products are better.

Don't take it personally, Numark is just trash. Poorly designed, terrible sounding, horrible quality DJ gear. It's not even inexpensive anyways, so there's no reason to buy it unless you fall for marketing gimmicks.
The worst mixer ever is the 1000 series Numark. REVERSED horizontal EQs, with the worst curve and range ever, the worst, tightest upfaders ever and the shortest lasting crossfader ever. Plus the output is so distorted, with such a high SNR it's almost unbelievable.
You can get a cheap Vestax for nearly the same price, and it will sound and function a hundred times better.
Behringer is no better but I'd rather play on the DJX700 (which is HORRIBLE) than a Numark 1000 series mixer.
With that said, recording into a mic input on a laptop will sound like crap because it's preamped (with really bad quality chips) and has a really high SNR. Get an audio interface - even the cheapest m-audio interface will sound a million times better.

other than:
1) poor reliability
2) terrible sound quality (you can't deny it, I've played on their highest end mixers and they sound like shit)

yeaaa, ive had my x1s for 7 years now - never a problem with them, and tons of other people - no problems either, and when any - just as many as other turntables out there.
erm yeah i can - ive got one of their higher end mixers and the qualitys perfect.
i find it so funny the hangups people have about numark and how nuts they go when someone actually says their higher end stuff is good...OMG WTF NOO!
i worked in a DJ dealership for two years a few years back and tested out a stupid amount of mixers and turntables including numarks - its not half as bad as you guys whine about.
numark made mistakes of course, all companys had - for instance, the pos technics cd decks that we're absolutely useless :D
way to ruin discoredia's thread guys! :P

We're talking mixers, not turntables. The first gen TTX-1 was incredibly unreliable and I've seen my share of overheating ones. It functions OK but let's not get into that Tech12 vs TTX-1 debate, we've done it before.
Which Numark mixer do you have? I've played on their higher end stuff, unfortunately, at some raves, and it was absolutely terrible.
They've made mistakes? They still make trash. I've tried newer Numark gear and it's just as bad as the old stuff.
I realize you can't compare my DJM-800 to a DM1002X but I *CAN* compare Vestax mixers that cost a similar price to low/midrange Numark mixers. Numark's only selling point is their gimmicky design, which attracts noobs with ease.
Yes, I'm opinionated, because I hate having to play on shitty gear at raves.

i have a PPD01, and first Gen TTX1's, havent had technics for a few years, but will purchase them again when ....well, when ive finished paying for my bloody wedding :(
i dont like the new mixers they have brought out in the last few years ..or in fact any/many that arent the PPD01 and 100% agree with you that they most of there stuff is gimmicky - i would say at (bare) minimum 80% of numarks stuff is gimmicky.
but im just not going to stomp like a girl and rip on them, it doesnt win anyone cookies.
millions of people starting out use numark as a stepping stone to the bad boys of the scene
im not going to call them N00bs.
its far better to be supportive.

I'm supportive of companies that deserve respect. Not companies that make overpriced junk.
The PPD-01 is OK but nothing more. I've (unfortunately) played on craploads of Numark mixers including the 5000FX (ugh) and others at raves and hated it. Bad EQ, bad faders, bad layout and bad sound.
Thank heavens most raves I've played at in the last year have had DJM series mixers.
It's good to criticize bad products. It means when people google "Numark DM1002X" they'll see threads were people rant about how bad they are, not some comments from someone that has never DJ'd that just got one and says "THIS MIXER IS THE BEST EVER< BETTER THAN PIONEER DJM800 AND ONLY 1/25THE THE PRICE!!!> IT SOUNDS SO GOOD ON MY COMPUTER SPEAKERS!!!".
Because that's what you get when you search Behringer or Numark. People that know anything about DJing don't buy those mixers, so you rarely get accurate reviews, and people that have bad experiences get buried in the newbie DJ posts.
By shutting up when you have bad Numark products you're allowing them to continue making dissapointing products, hindering the progress of "starting" DJs.
Yes, I'm exaggerating but you know what I'm saying.

i agree again, i think you are exaggerating :)
its unfair to slate an entire company - when they do make some good products
X1's and X2's are good turntables, theres no need to get so stressed out about them, its ok for other good turntables on the market.
the "DJ in a Box" they do, whilst they definiatly absolutly no where near bigboy standard decks - are great for beginners, because they are cheeply priced and have everything that they need for someone who is interested in DJing..and lots of beginners out there have them.
ive never heard anyone get that excited about a mixer before lol
"THIS MIXER IS THE BEST EVER< BETTER THAN PIONEER DJM800 AND ONLY 1/25THE THE PRICE!!!> IT SOUNDS SO GOOD ON MY COMPUTER SPEAKERS!!!".
if you have that much of a problem, i would email numark themselves, go to the source -
as for hindering the progress of starter DJs, i think you know thats absolute rubbish lol...
most people started out on the biggest pieces of crap ever - i dont even think the company still exists that made my first decks from like 12 years ago...they werent numark though, they were a heck of alot worse, most DJs start on shit decks and if they keep it up and enjoy they eventually move up the deck-jacobs-ladder :)
sounds like it really upsets you though....

For the price of most "DJ in a box" setups you could have a pair of used Tech12s, which are WAY, WAY, WAY better
And I wasn't really exaggerating that much - I've seen plenty of people post like that about Behringer and Numark mixers.
I started on crap gear too but I wish someone had told me to get Tech12s and a good mixer right away.
Fact, is you admit yourself that 80% of the company's products are trash - why give them any credit? Obviously there are better companys out there, that produce better products which deserve our support.

why? because they do have some good products
just like some artists make some good music but then continue to make utter rubbish
numark exist because because people want the cheep stuff to get started on
you say that you can get two used 1210's for the price of an entire setup
fact is people dont want used ebay possibly-on-there-last-leg-out-of-cash-converters 1210's
when they can get an entire brand new warrentyfied setup for cheap just to find out if they want to continue DJing or not
if they dont like it they can then complain to numark or complain online
but apparently according to you - people love these shitty setups better than a perfectly good DJM800
thats not my fault...lol - i think its great that they make shit that people who arent as minted as us can afford and piss around on, i dont feel threatened by them...numark arent creating DJ Rankins...or making technics make worse products (tech cd deck not included)

Tech12s last forever
I have one that's about 35 years old and works fine
A used tech12 will outlast a brand new Numark deck BY FAR (and perform much better)
