I think Kathryn is disappointed because she is a parent, and parents don't find things involving kids all too funy anymore.

and Smoogie if y'all truly don't understand us then y the hell would your media showcase so much of our television comedies, dramas, etc to your country? and make some of the shows (like lost, heroes, and seinfeld which i hate seinfeld) so popular?

and don't start that i don't understand y'all. i will admit there are very few british tv shows that i c on tv but there have been a few sitcoms that i view every now and then and i find them quite comical.

doooooooooooooooooooooooooood!

im a parent - i find this thread hilarious, people just differ in what is funny and what isnt, and where they draw the lines...
and..
:)

the answer is because we do indeed understand each other and smoogies messin around you shouldnt take him so seriously :P....and why would the BBC use our license fee to pay for own programming when they can just buy for cheap from the USA...and keep the spare change to fill their fat wallets up?!?! lol

but simply its cheeper for us to let America do all the hard work, and we'll buy whats worth buying. that said - the american shows that get shown over here are only ones that get big in the states...Lost, Prison Break, Heros, Stargate, Buffy, Family Guy, South Park, CSI, ER, Stargate Atlantis, Pushing Daisies, Drawn Together, Friends, Star Trek

we dont just buy any old crap (well, apart from friends imo)
Doctor Who gets played on Sci-Fi in the states, that was playing whilst i was there....Coupling (UK) got played on BBC America...as did little britain, but dear god did that channel suck..80% of the time it was shitty home-selling-bargin-hunting-DIY-crap, i think The Office got played as well....though from what i recall, the US version of the office was actually good, compared to the US version of coupling - that sucked balls lol

interesting note to self though - MXC gets played over here in england...but its shit compared to the american version, the american version they totally take the piss and the presenters are funny, complete opposite in england...i think they renamed it to takishi's castle or somthing, either way it wasnt a patch on the american-dubbed verison.

i would love to see this thread continue to take a random turn again... hahaha
