read!
this topic got out of hand, i didnt mean for it to go like this
end edit
ok so i was hanging with some friends of mine, and we where in a car and i poped a happy hardcore cd in. (im not trying to be racist) but there where 2 black guys in the car, and they were all like "this type of stuff is sh**y and not music" WTF!!
they love rap or w/e (i like rap tho) but istn rap just a slowed down version of edm, or edm is a speeded up version of rap.... right?
so if they hate hhc cuz of what sound sounds like, wouldnt they hate rap to?
am i over thinking this?
feedback plz

happy hardcore is sped up rap? hahaha
some dnb/jungle sounds like sped up hip hop, but happy hardcore? not even close... how much rap/hip hop have you ever heard that's 4/4?

one of the funnier things i've heard recently... this is so absolutely and absurdly untrue i don't even know where to start

i suggest downloading the set americas most wanted by the nice guys.
they got hip hop accapellas and put them overtop of all their mixes and i have to say it is the single most creative hardcore set ever.
any newbies to hardcore ****ing LOVE this set, i guarentee that your closed minded friends will not know WHAT to say besides, oh this is kinda cool.
at the very least, they can't fault it. GO! DOWNLOAD!!

kanye west has a pretty unique sound, and thats significantly slower than hhc. i assume you're talking about songs like heartless and love lockdown, which as far as rap goes are pretty clubby sounding and are in no way representative of the rap genre as a whole
50's songs with 4/4 are pretty much garbage catered to pop-loving audiences
can you honestly listen to rap music and then 175 bpm happy hardcore and conclude that they are so similar that if you like one you must like the other?
not to mention rap music is very much about the lyrics, whereas hhc is kick drum led, vocals are very rarely the salient aspect of the song

you're splitting hairs dude.
music is music. sound is sound.
i realize they are two different genres, but really when you get down to it, it's all an investigation in to hamony, melody, rhythm, dynamics... we are the ones that have made these pigeon holes to cram this stuff into.
i dunno. i consider all music as equal. even lately i have started to like country for its production value. i think everyone should just get past all this labelling shit.
music IS music.

it is stupid to think that ppl who like rap should like happy hardcore or uk hardcore. they are in totally different genres, and also rap has more of a cultural and racial background rather than uk hardcore. i am hispanic, and at 1 point liked rap/hiphop when it had meaning. then i switched over to electronica, and eventually became exclusive to happy/uk hardcore. many of the ppl who still listen to rap/hiphop get extremely surprised that after that i made the switch to electronica because they believe it's such a huge difference.
it is. we may borrow some elements from rap/hiphop and they are beginning to borrow some of our elements, but it it totally different and even tho some genres are more similar to others, you should not assume that ppl should like it just because of those similarities

I honestly can't believe that i'm reading this conversation right now.
hip hop/ rap music and happy hardcore (provided you played actual happy hardcore) are so night and day it's unreal.

NO!!!!! rap/hiphop will never be on the lines of hhc no matter whether the beat average is the same technicality! damn get that thru ur head
and don't listen to vitalism he lives on some fantasy-ass-land where his pills make him believe everythign is love! it ain't!
we all like different tastes because we are all different ppl. we are unique individuals. therefore, we will not always agree on everything, and that includes music! and i love it like that! the day i hear lil' wayne listening to S3RL and start producing HHC i would put a bullet to my brain because that is the sign of the end of the world!
