not sure if this should go in here
well like my freind's uncle is a "dj" and he is gona be doing a party for his niece(my freind) so she ask him if i could spin a few tracks and he said i could do a 15 min set....an intermission so he can go pee, smoke, and get some food. he has some sweet CDJ-1000MK3.
so im trying to get a track listing for the party kinda, but the thing is i dont know what to layout..... i know alot of them listen to "post-hardcore rock" and some hiphop stuff and a few of them like edm.
the dj dude said before i go on he is gona do requests, so should i try and folow up on the last song he did, it will be like rap-ish stuff i think..... so i should do like 2 rap/hiphop tracks then do a pop-ish song and then bring the bpm up with some rock
would that seem good?
this is my first gig so i dont want to fu** up, if i do good i might beable to get more gigs in the later on..... but im only 16 so this is like uber awesome that i get to do a gig this soon, its gona be like a 200+ people party btw
any help?
thanks =]

dude... why for **** sake would you play hiphop if your a hardcore dj =p to me that makes no sence.. do some shouts wif a mic for a lil interruption change of style announcement =p get ya airhorn nd blast out (as its 15 mins) bout 4 proper rave tracks.. make the crowd jump.. if your sure of yourself.. and sweeping up the crowd they just follow like a bunch of brainless sheeps.. i remember my first set in a club.. where they pretty much just play dance and trance.. my mate took me there saying i could go on for a half hour atleast.. he had a 3 hour set.. well it ended up in 1 hour pure dutch hardcore.. why? cuz i was confident that i could do it and i just stood there.. did my thing.. mc loved it and kept on pushing the people to go wif it and they loved it! .. dont adjust to something you aint =p unless u are.. then go wif ya hiphop =p but i would find it a waste as u bin promoting urself as hardcore dj =]

play some 4x4 grime, you get that hardcore kinda beat with the hip hop vocal feel, well thats my opinion anyway.

but alot of americans wouldnt like the whole edm stuff and would leave the floor, i was thinking of a remix of a pop-ish song, there is a katty perry hhc remix around itunes some where might try that and if they dance to it then i might try and play some hhc but not hardcore...
anyone have names of some good rap/hiphop/pop hhc remix's??
ive heard a few but i cant rember

well congrats on your first gig...
they listen to rock and rap?
only thing i can suggest is get a better idea of what is going to be played that night
its going to rest heavy on the feel of the party and what he has been playing right up until that point, you dont want to kill the mood by playing some kenny rogers song :)
if they listen to rock...why has he got CDJ1000s? sounds a bit redundant.
furthermore - 15mins...whats that....3 or 4 songs?
i think you'll be fine

I know a couple djs that use those for weddings.
and playing hardcore after a rock/hip hop set will go badly...I would shoot for house/breaks remixes of popular songs.

i dont doubt it, they would be perfect for some...and complete overkill for others haha.
but CDJ's for playing Rock ...and even country...yeah, i feel thats overkill
get a live band lol

does anyone seem to understand the concept that it isn't a hardcore party?
